finasteride alone, no rogaine

I have minor thinning, shedding and itching. I've been hearing how rogaine can make things worse/make the condition of the scalp worse. So was wondering if finasteride alone would help?

Also I've read on here that you must use nizoral in order for finasteride to work, which I don't think is true but I was wondering if I should combo finasteride with nizoral?

Didn't notice any difference.

Minioxidil never did anything for me. However finasteride thickened up my entire head of hair to the point where I no longer a thin appearance but normal density.

You were not a Minoxidil respondent Shookwun. I have never tried it myself. The problem is it doesn't work for a lot of people, probably like 1/3 get a big response. Those who respond well to it, it can make a huge difference. In the clinical trials it grew more hair than finasteride/dutasteride.

As you know I am just on finasteride. And I can say the same thing as you, it really is thickening my hair. Not only that but my hairline is moving forwards too slowly. Year into finasteride but I think this is far from the final result.

What stage were you at when you started treatment? and have you experienced those sexual side effects?

No sides. I would say I was Norwood 2-3. Right side was like 2.75 and left was 2.5? Something like that. It's slowly moving forwards and hairs are going terminal. It's nothing impressive yet but it is improving and new tiny hairs are still coming through. New areas have thin density though but are still developing. I have some pictures up which may give you an idea.

I think I'm just gonna start finasteride on its own, maybe nizoral also 1/2 times a week. Will finasteride stop the itching and scalp irritation?
