Feeling Discouraged About Hair Loss

Hey guys, I'm heading into my 8th month of 1.25 mg of finasteride daily. From months 2 until month 5 I had no shedding. Like maybe 10 hairs in the shower drain on a bad day. If you have seen my previous threads I got some solid regrowth on my temple, since month 5 I've been shedding like a mofo (20-40 hairs in the drain catcher each time, starting to find more of my hair everywhere etc). I know my hair loss is mirror to compared to a lot of other people here but I feel like all of this shedding I'm experiencing is going to make me very noticeably balding soon. I think I might even be starting to diffuse a little (idk it its just because my hair is just very fine to begin with that when it's wet a little scalp will show with flash?). If I am diffusing I'm debating adding minoxidil in at night. I know finasteride will realistically keep me at baseline for at least 5 years but all this shedding has me worried. Has anyone here any experiences like this where they ended up getting good results in the long run?

My hair: All went with flash on

Dude. The money I would pay for a head of hair like that ....

I've seen your pictures and posts around here. You have such minimal hair loss, if any, you are truly wasting your time on here.

However, we have been on the same dose of finasteride for the same time. I've just recently noticed slight thickening.

That's not a lot of shedding. You're supposed to shed 100-150 hairs every day. I've been counting 40-50 hairs in the shower every day the last few months, but my hair has gotten thicker over that time.

Thank you all for the replies and kind words. I would say that out of the hairs that I lose, like 90-95% of them are long and very healthy looking with the other percent being kind of shorter/weak looking. Do you guys think I'm diffusing or just have temple recession?

Looks like you're diffusing, but it's hard to say without before pics. It's in the early stages of you are.

Damn it, that was my worse fear. Should I add in minoxidil?

I can honestly say that I think my hair density has stayed the same over the last few years I think (?). Like I don't have any pictures of my hair slicked back from years ago, but my hair looks the same styled as it did like 2 years ago. Like I said it's just all this shedding that I've been experiencing that is making me paranoid.

Finasteride without minoxidil is kind of pointless if you want regrowth.

Why are you gonna use minoxidil? Are you trying to regrow hair you never had? Cause you got all you need on your head lol. Dude honestly IDc if your loss is not noticeable I understand your concern and know where you're coming from, but i remember when you first joined and showed your pics, your hair looks the same. I really doubt finasteride is ineffective for you

Thank you for the kind words man. Yeah I'm just super paranoid. A girl I was seeing a couple years back (well going on dates and having sex whatever that made us) straight up told me once "I hope you never go bald, you would look so ugly" and it just stuck with me. I applied minoxidil to my hair line, crown, and front of my scalp last night. I may stop.

I'm very much interested in seeing your crown, can you post a picture of your crown ?

Don't like to bump my own thread, but do you guys think I should add minoxidil?

I've been shedding 150-250 hairs every day for the past 8 years.... What I wouldn't give to only shed 100 hairs a day...

Do you guys think I'm diffusing or is it normal to see that much scalp with wet slicked back hair with the flash on?

You have zero hair loss, you remind of me someone on HLH who looked just like you with massive dense hair that just didn't stop creating threads about how his life was over because in his mind he was balding heavily.

There are two possible scenarios happening with you. One is that you just have thin fine hair with naturally lower density and when its wet it looks thinner. Or you do have some diffuse thinning at the front. I don't know if I could agree that you have zero loss but you definitely don't have thick hair. Regardless, most people will say you have great hair. I think your obsession with your situation might border on BDD. All you can do is use finasteride and minoxidil and hope it holds for a few decades.

Look at his hair on the sides, it's exactly the same, he doesn't have visible hair loss at all. The quality of the hair is good, there's no lighter or thinner looking hairs.

If you part the hair in the middle it's going to look thinner there due to traction, even with women you can see this.

It's mind boggling. Most people don't even know there balding until they loose 50% in density or have visible temple loss.

I don't even want to know what this guy would do to himself if he actually started thinning, and developing andro related hair loss.

I dont want to discourage people but this is a form of BDD

is a type of chronic mental illness in which you can't stop thinking about a flaw in your appearance — a flaw that is either minor or imagined. But to you, your appearance seems so shameful that you don't want to be seen by anyone.

Where exactly is the hair loss? i have a PHD in norwood-ology
