I'm guessing that "tingling" is itching. That would be inflammation, read up on the many causes of that, and yes it does mean that you're losing more hair.

I had a lot of itching when I first started to diffuse thin. Now with less hair the itching has almost gone...... aswell as the hair. Also keep the scalp clean because oil can build up and the pores will clog and make the immflamation worse. Use a shampoo with no propylene glycol if possible.
I started using soap because I know it has no ppg.

The tingling isn't a reason to stop propecia- it's a common symptom of male pattern baldness. Though I'm not an expert, I've been reading this stuff for a couple of months and I've never heard anyone say propecia is causing an itchy scalp. The Nizoral should help you with that. FWIW, I used Nizoral for the first time today and literally feel like i've a halo on my head. It's been itchy as f*** for as long as I can remember and I think I've had one tiny minor itch today. Hopefully that means Nizoral will slow things down for me....

Wrong, itching is a common symptom of alopecia areata, not androgenic alopecia. The inflammation has to do with your immune system causing hair loss (areata), not DHT receptors (androgenic).

It's far from a certainty but that itching may mean you're treating the wrong thing. How are your nails and gums?

Brian gums and nails are exactly as theyve always been, . my head isnt actually itching more annoying tingling mainly when i think about it. I have male pattern baldness my dad went bald early..im on propecia for 6 months not shedding/losing any hair at the minute (about 5 small hairs/mini) in shower, does this tingle / inflammation mean im going to lose more hair now? cos im not at the minute, or will this tingle result in a shed in 2/3 months. Do i need to get on this regaine today like i have. I need advice if possible from people who are on propecia for 6 months and had the skin tingling on head, and what it resulted in....

Brian you said im going to lose hair because of this tingle, is this good/bad as im on propecia daily 1mg?

should i carry on with the regaine i bought today

I get an itchy scalp too, I've no idea why.
It might be psychological but a few hours after I take ~1.5mg finasteride, the itch seems to go away.
I don't think finasteride causes the itch (I can't see how it could?)

Lots more people have reported itching during shedding phases - again though, it could just be co-incidental (like if you consciously think about a body part being itchy, you might get the urge to scratch it) - thinking about DHT damaging your follicles might give you a psychological impulse to scratch your head. At any rate I definitely do have this itch.
If I skip a finasteride dose for the day it also seems to get worse.

I don't know if this causes shedding, but I get the itch in the classical male pattern baldness area :sobbing: and not in the donor area, so whatever it is, I don't think it's good :sobbing:
and I definitely don't have Alopecia Areata, it's classical male pattern baldness (sadly for me :shakehead: )

Same as they've always been? How's that? Red, white, striped, pitted, ridged, brittle, dry, inflamed, receding, none of the above?

Either way, a good thing to try out would be a topical fungicide such as ketaconazole or miconazole. You could be experiencing a yeast infection as a result of a number of different situations.
