And they never seemed to notice that I was NW2.5 or even 3 at one point. I'm posting this in response to some comments on the game of thrones topic. Essentially, I am not a confident guy. I have no game at all. I never really hit on women, I've started chatting with them sure, but not hit on them. I haven't been with many girls, but all of them liked me for my hair. Actually when I was NW1 in my school and college days, I never got any girls, I had no style back then. Ironically, two of them were after I had experienced significant hair loss. One was shortly before I began treatment when I was still in denial about my hair loss and had lost quite a bit. She actually didn't notice afaik and wouldn't shut up about how much she loved my hair. She was a hot metal chick.
This is what it was like then. She never actually saw this hairline. Not sure what Norwood that was, but it was well past 2 territory.

But this is what she saw

She didn't even see hair loss, even though I clearly had lost quite a bit.
I recently met another girl, pretty hot lady, she picked me out on Tinder (yes I'm a Beta male, she picked me). Once again, as far as I can tell, the only reason she fancied me was my hair. I had improved a lot since then, but still in Norwood 2-2.5 territory, though I hide it pretty well.

Temple recession. Temple points shaved so as to less the contrast with the bald temples.

That's some pretty significant hairline and temple recession, but grow it out a bit and you can hide it quite well. Look at Alfie Allen on GoT. Before he became greasy old Reek, you'd never have known he had hairloss.
This is what most people see. Temples are not exposed, nobody sees the hairline. Once again, I could shave and eveyone would know I'm balding, it's better to grow it out and cover it.
I have three points to make here.
1. You don't have to have perfect hair or a perfect hairline for girls to find you attractive. Even with thinning or receding hair, you can still style it in such a way as to be attractive... Up to a point. There is a point past which it is no longer possible. But it's often more advanced than you might think. Take Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio for example:

It might sound incredulous, but a lot of women wouldn't look at this and think he's bald/balding

Many women would still find his hair very attractive here, that's well into NW3 territory. Of course he's a good looking guy with a great head shape so that doesn't hurt.
Or this...

2. Having hair, that is perceived as nice, gives an enormous advantage in dating. You can literally not try at all and have more success than bald guys or guys with bad haircuts who try super hard. This is an obvious one. If you have hair, you don't have to work hard, or at all. If you don't, you ALWAYS have to work your *** off, and even then you will not succeed most of the time. Losing hair requires one to grow thick skin.
3. It's not just about the hairline, the hairstyle is also very important. I've gone to bars and clubs with friends who have way better hairlines, but bad or plain hairstyles, and women threw themselves at me (NW2-3) while they had to work their asses off and still got nowhere. Once again, you need a certain minimum threshold of hair to pull of certain styles, but that threshold is often beyond NW2. Even NW3's can pull off styles that women find attractive, though their options are more limited. Even when I was NW3, I still didn't have to try so hard.
So if you have a bit of recession, don't fret, you can still do a lot with what you've got, experiment, you might be very surprised. For dudes above NW3 (which I am certain to be within 8 years, dating is more difficult. Really there is no sugar coating it, they have to work a hell of a lot harder, overcome discrimination and face rejection. With age women become more accepting. Young women are not though, and most dudes don't want older women, they want young women.
My main point though, is make the most of what you've got. You'd be surprised how much hair you can lose and still not be considered a balding guy/have women like your hair. I think Matt Skiba is an excellent example of this. Don't reach for the bic and hit the gym so soon so soon, there are things you can do right up until NW3 territory. After that though, you kind of run out of options.
For many people, NW2 and sometimes even 3 doesn't even register as balding. Maybe if you style it badly, but mostly it's still socially okay. Of course it's always better to have a lower hairline, and temple hair, and even if others don't notice, it still takes it's toll on our confidence. But NW2-3 is not a death sentence. You might hate it, but a lot of people won't notice, especially if you style it right. I got more attention as an NW2 or 3 than I ever did as an NW1.
Here's Mark Hoppus from Blink 182. Lots of women still like his hair
