Most people who switch to dutasteride do so because they think finasteride has stopped working for them, or they think their male pattern baldness is about to gt worse. Then they get on dutasteride, possibly have a shed and possibly recover or maybe tehy don't.
If they don't recover it may just be that DHT inhibitors are not sufficient to prevent their baldness. Maybe they previously saw gains on finasteride, but it's also possible those gains were minoxidil gains if they used them simultaneously.
There are just so many variables that online anecdotal evidence is utterly worthless.
If anyone blames dutasteride for runing their hairline, I'd want to ask them the following questions.
1. Is it a shed? How long have you been on dutasteride for?
2. Did you maintain your hair on finasteride alone for over a year prior to taking dutasteride?
3. Why did you switch to dutasteride, was your hairline getting worse anyway?
4. Is it possible that you're just a non-responder to dht inhibitors.
5. If you did previously see gains on finasteride/minoxidil, is it possible that the gains were minoxidil gains and that finasteride wasn't doing anything for you?
