Hi All,
After 8 months of daily research I came to the conclusion that Dr Keser @ Derma Plast in Ankara was the best choice for me after the constant amazing dense and natural results I saw online and him doing the WHOLE procedure himself. I emailed the clinic and provided pictures of my hair (dry & wet), they replied within a few days and told me would need 2000-2500 grafts over the space of 4 days. I agreed and booked in with Dr Keser for 19-23rd November. Exciting times!
I am from the UK and what I didn't realise is you need a vista to enter Turkey since 4 weeks ago..no drama though, I went online at the airport and got accepted immediately (I would advise doing this before!) There is no direct flight from UK to Ankara so we got a connecting flight to Istanbul (4hrs) then on to Ankara (1hr). Once I arrived I had a driver waiting for me with my name on a card, he dropped me to the hotel and the UK translator arrived at my hotel the following morning for the first day!
As I arrived at the clinic it was very clean and tidy with a nice view of the shopping mall (once you arrive at the door you need to put on covers over your trainers, they are big on hygiene) I was offered refreshments and felt very welcomed immediately. Then I met Dr Keser who started to inspect my hair, after doing this he then started to design and draw the new hairline. After he asked if I was happy with it (which I was) we then shaved my hair which I was excited for because for so long I had a comb over to cover my area's of balding! But actually I didn't mind how I looked. Then we started...
The first day was 500 grafts which started with the extracting first, they inject local anesthesia into the head a few times which is a little uncomfortable but then you can't feel a thing after 10 seconds or so. The extracting took just over an hour then you go for a 20/30 minute break then go back for a top up of local anesthesia and Dr Keser to insert the new grafts which took around 1hr 30 mins. I was asked frequently if I felt any pain and if I was ok. I wont go into each day as they were all the same but what I will say is that Dr Keser is a perfectionist at what he does and has a lovely and caring team around him. Each morning before we would start his team would wash my head and remove my bandages which they were very careful with as your head can be a little sore.
Surgery finished on Thursday and I went back into the clinic on Friday for a final wash and I received creams, instructions for the aftercare and a CD of pictures to keep. I took some pictures with the team and gave them a small gift of some chocolates as a gesture for all the hard work they done for me. Obviously I had done my research so I kind of knew what to expect but anyone from the UK who is a little nervous of flying abroad and getting a hair transplant I would recommend looking into deeply but I am so glad I picked Dr Keser. Now is the waiting game!! I will update a progress picture monthly for you guys. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I will reply.
