Bad hair uk I gotta couple of questions for you if I may?

Do you think there were any other factors other than choice of doctor in which you feel contributed to your getting such a good result?

The choice of Dr is the number 1 factor in my opinion and being prepared to travel to get the best work is the main thing. For me as a repair patient, I went to a Dr that specialises in repair patients like myself.

The other considerations for me were just to try and get as much hair back or 'packed' in as much as possible. This again is something certain Dr's will be able to do more than others. The last thing is if you have a virtually bald area, keep in mind that its not always only going to take 1 hair transplant to reach the desired results, so keep an open mind on this which is again down to your own needs.

Are you on finasteride or dutasteride etc to maintain/ You got plenty of spare donor hair for 20 years down the line?

Yes, this is really important in my opinion. I was against the idea of taking meds daily to hold onto my native hair (before I had a hair transplant). But there is nothing better than keeping your own existing hair than having to go through further hair transplants in the future. I have held onto my crown with the help of taking...

Daily:
1/5th finasteride. (started 15th April'08)
MSM 1000 x2 (only for 1st 6 months after hair transplant) to help speed up the re-growth.

Being as your transformation was quite extreme, in a very positive way of course, but due to the severity of change in your appearance you must have gotten a reaction from many people, allbeit i'm sure positive ones. How was that and how did you deal with it?

This is quite a strange one. This is down to the fact I hardy ever took my cap off for over 10 years!! I wouldnt even leave the house without it. Even my own brother or mother etc hadnt seen me without a hat for over a decade!! For the 1st few years I would be asked why I never take it off!

But after this people just got used to me with a cap on. I would like to say... I hated every single day of wearing a cap. My head doesnt look good in a cap and I found it very degrading and difficult to find one that fitted me so I always wore it till it had to be changed for a new one!

It was really sad. I remember people I had never met before or neighbours, would ask me whats under my hat?! I was really embarrassed as I knew I had thick ugly hair transplanted plugs and I couldn't let anyone see them at any cost! :( at this stage I had lost all contact with any friends who stopped calling me as I never went out or anyone to go out with so I had nobody to compare me 'before and after' expect my mother!! and brother. I was a recluse... but not my choice... I used to be the partying kind and up for fun every weekend.

So for me taking off my cap and leaving the house for the 1st time just to walk into the town was VERY strange feeling. I felt naked to start off with but at the same time I felt incredible!! In the last few years without a hat I have not had one person look up at my hairline, when I 1st started losing my hair in my early 20's, everyones eyes used to go up to my hairline when they were talking to me! But this has never happened again since I took my hat off. I really am grateful to be able to have this 2nd chance again is quite special.. before I really do get old!

Sorry for the long reply, but I was trying to say... the response is great but I never uncovered my balding head to anyone before this... I was too ashamed.

The most common comments I get from people that didnt know me before, are 'You look younger than me and I'm only 27 not 37!' I had a builder around the other day who said 'If he new he could have stayed looking as young as me he would never have got married!' lol.

The last thing I heard recently was my mum telling me my brother told her he thought I was really lucky to have such a full head of hair' she is the only one that knows I have had a hair transplant in my family.

These are some amazing comments I hear for people I have never met before.

If I am being too personal that's fair enough just you are a few years older than myself and if I go the same route I don't really know what I am gonna say or how I am gonna handle it.

I hear you, I told a 2 girls that I have had a hair transplant just to see there reaction and they didnt care one bit!! One reaction was ' so what, you should see all the things us girls do with our hair' I wanted to hear the opinion of someone that knew nothing about hair transplant's and it was really nice to hear they thought it was great. I almost think its cool now! lol.

Anyway cheers for the feedback bearing in mind you really don't need to be here anymore. Fair play and congrats :)

Your welcome. I hope I have helped... and I know how your feeling and hope this has helped make you feel better. This was the best decision I ever made, or I would still be wearing a hat right now.

All the best :)

Sorry I missed this one, yes Dr F has told me if I wanted I have enough for another strip and more FUE available... so enough to cover me for the future, but hopefully I will be fine for many years to come for now with the help of meds to maintain my current situ.

Thanks S.A.F and everyone else for your kind feedback...its really encouraging to hear such kind feedback.

Yeh thanks alot for the input :bravo: Exactly what I was after and then some. You've not had a nice time at all!!!! Really great to hear a happy ending for a someone who was clearly severly suffering.

Thanks mate.

Do you reckon if I had 1500 grafts fue'd on my sides and hairline in april it wouldn't show in july. Got an old friends wedding to go to God dammit!!!!

I wish I could say YES! Like the man from Del Monté. But its really not possible to say, but I know a man who can! (not the man from Del Monté) but a guy who's screen name is SPEX. He is without doubt the best guy for you to ask and a UK consult for Dr Feller

Here's his contact info.....

http://www.hairhelp.myzen.co.uk/

His hair transplant results are awesome and you can meet him if you wanted to.

I keep getting wedding invites which of course is nice but you simply can't bail on them without being thought of as a complete bastard especially if they are a good friend.

Thanks again for the in depth reply.

Oh do you think you are an exceptionally good candidate for a hair transplant or that Dr Feller just did and amazing job or both. I mean, is fair hair cosmetically better to transplant for example? And/or do you have good donor density? :)

I'm really not a good candidate, I had thick scar tissue all the way around my hairline, left over from the bad ' Nobel Hair Clinic UK ' carried out on me in my early 20's :thumbdown2: I would say if anyone that has a virgin scalp and hasnt had a previous hair transplant is in a much much better situation than me! I wish I had started with a clean slate... for me it was like trying to grow plants in a gravel pit! Thank goodness the scar tissue was covered and now a thing of the past.

Hope this helps... and least you'll get some free booze at the wedding! :)

one last thing!

what do you reckon my chances are of say booking a transplant end Feb and getting it done just prior to summer?

The usual waiting time is around 3 months I think? but if you ask SPEX he will know how busy Dr Feller is at the moment or if he has any spaces to fit you in.

Im stuck. Got fuzz on my hairline but only on enough duts to castrate a horse so it can't last. dunno whether to have one last full on medical attack, throw in some RU and copper peptides and re assess 6 months down the line. Excuse my stream of consciouseness

All the best :)

The results look outstanding, teriffic work!

Slightly off topic, but how have you found Dr. Feller / Spex to deal with? Whenever I see examples of the work Dr. Feller has done I'm always impressed, but I never get a response from my emails to the clinic, and Spex left me feeling like I was inconveniencing him when we spoke on the phone.

I hear so many positive things about them both that I'm starting to think they just don't want to deal with *me* personally. Maybe they just don't like Transsexuals :)

GeminiX, you've always been kind with your feedback to my posts and I appreciate your feedback.. I'm sure Spex will be able to help advise you. I can only go from my own experience with Spex and Dr Feller. Spex has been there to support me more than anyone, even before I had a hair transplant repair. I can only say really high praises and I know thats probably sounding like I am hyping him up as I am a patient of Dr Feller's.. but he has always answered my messages and you have no idea how many questions I bombarded him with non-stop for months and he was always really kind and helpful (I dont know how he does it to be honest as he's a busy guy with a family and still has time for people like me asking questions all day). Dr Feller's is not as easy to contact directly... as he is often in surgery which is quite understandable. I always found it much easier to call his office and arrange a time to call him when I knew he would be available.

I'm sure Spex will be able to clear things up and help you...and thanks again for your feedback. :)

looks great, but what about your future donor? You've had almost 6000 grafts placed only at the frontal part.

Hey Shma, my crown hasnt changed for about 10 years and my family history was more towards the front half. The whole front half is all hair transplant hair now so thats going to be staying for a while :)

I take meds to keep as much native hair as I can... but if I do need any futher work in the future, Dr Feller has told me I have enough for another strip and more FUE yet to come.. if I ever needed it that would completely fill me in the crown. But this has given me all the coverage I need now to start enjoying my life before I really do get old and wrinkly. So will be doing that for a while :)

Its all good... this is the difference between a Dr that looks ahead to what may be required in the future.. and have it there in the bank.

I must admit im more than a little jealous. Enjoy your new mop!

Thank you HB, I remember looking at all the guys 'after' pics from the top hair transplant Dr's on the forums and never thought I had any chance of reaching a good head of hair again like that, but now I feel like I am one of those Very lucky guys and I know how it feels to dream of having it back.

This shows that its totally possible and even if you have had poor work previously...its still possible to have a head of hair you can style and be proud of again. It doesnt feel like a hair transplant for me at all anymore.. it feels like its my native hair.. which is really amazing. I wish you the very best and I know how you feel as I was the same as you...or probably worse for over 10 years.

Take care all the best mate.

Thanks thylax... its what I was dreaming of when I started the 'return of the hair' journey. I really dont think anyone would know even if I pulled my hair back in front of someone a few inches away that knew nothing about my hair transplant.. they wouldnt even see anything different than a normal head of hair. It feels totally natural and I dont feel like I have had a hair transplant anymore.

Thank you again for your kind reply's :)

Congratulations, it looks absolutely fantastic.

I've been thinning for about 4 years now (I'm 23, high temples and thinning hair on top), and it's now come to the point where I've decided to just buzz it down. I've never had very thick hair, and I don't like the idea of taking Propecia (nor do I have the economy for it), so I don't think I'm a good candidate for a transplant. However, I'm slowly coming to terms with my hair loss (I still consider myself to be a decent looking guy with a nice enough skull, though of course I think I would look much better with a thick mane and straight hairline), so I'm thinking that either the unthinkable will happen and a cure will be found (fingers crossed), or I'll continue moving towards complete baldness in the coming years. It certainly sucks, and for a period of time I was really, really down about it (almost suicidal). I'm still insecure about it, but it's better now, even though I hate all the comments I get from people. I know that baldness might not be attractive for some people/women, but I tell myself that if people can't accept me for who I am, then f*ck them. The least I should do is accept myself, even though it can be hard.

I know a lot of people on here say that you can't replace hair with confidence, but I'm not sure I totally agree. The more I've come to terms with my hair loss, the more attractive I think I am, and the more attractive girls seem to think I am. I know this is not true for everyone, but I think it's true for a lot of people, many of whom think they look weird/bad with a buzz cut/shaved head when they really don't.

I don't know why I wrote all that (or why I wrote it in this thread), I guess I just needed to get it off my chest. It's not easy being 23 and balding when everyone around you has a full head of hair. Anyway, I'm honestly really happy for you man. I can only imagine what it must have been like for you in those 10+ years.

hey SS, I'm pleased you did, its something I can relate to 100%!! I used to feel so low it was at breaking point.. all I can say is when I took a last ditch attempt at seeing if there was any hope of anyone helping to fix me back up on the Internet (when we got our 1st home computer!) ....I wasn't actually expecting to find any help!! (apart from the same butchers that messed me up in the 1st place) Or find any Forums of 1000's of other guys getting hair transplant's from all over the world! I had been way too scared of going back to any UK clinic as I knew they would make matters even worse than they already were... I dont really know what I had been waiting for, for so long... all I thought about was how well I would be able to avoid people each day...including my own family. I wore a cap in the house every day....even just to go to the bathroom...I'd put my hat on to leave my room and take it off when I got back in the safety of my room again... ( it was ridiculous). This was from when I was 23 years old in 1994 till 2006 ! (when I 1st met Dr Feller in 2006).

I used to draw pictures in my room of me... of how I wish I was... and who I wish I wasnt. I never thought for a second I'd be here typing this now with my hair looking really good and having my true identity back again!

Anyway... I'm trying to say I know how you felt when things took a turn with your hair thinning.. I can relate. but I couldnt shave my head as I had plugs! from Nobel Hair Clinic... and even with it shaved there were stumps because I had plugs of 3's 4's and 5's etc. I looked like a freak of nature and felt like a freak 24/7. The whole area was 'raised' thick scar tissue that you cant see in the pictures but it was very shiny raised thick scar tissue..and the back of my head was a thick strip scar... so I was totally screwed with shaving.

I think its a very positive story hearing how you have overcome the worst of your fears and you now feel happier with your hair shaved....it looks awesome shaved on many guys (Hollywood stars ...Footballers etc) if you have a good shaped head for the look... its a great look! I'm genuinely super pleased for you and you sound happy with your look... and that's when you feel your best!! When you feel happy with yourself...you feel confident and look confident which is a nice feeling :)

I wish you the best....and forget the miracle cure... you sound like your already doing well enough with the female attention... :)

Thanks for your post :) and all the best!!
