Does minoxidil work on receding hairline?

I'm 21 and have a receding hairline and also have a small bald spot near crown area. I don't wanna go for finastride as my condition isn't very bad right now. So will only minoxidil work for my hairline? Also I'm planning to go for the foam variant. Is it less effective?

I apply the foam version to my crown and hairline/temples. Been using it for over a month now and I've seen a some weak hairs grow on my right temple and less on the centre and left side.

Yes. minoxidil can grow you vellus hairs on hair line and temples. Do some microneedling on it, about 1.5mm, to thicken those vellus hairs
