It can cause you to bruise easily, which is only a problem if you do contact sports.

Taking moderate to high levels of omega 3 supplements is a fantastic idea whether you're weightlifting, fighting hair loss, fighting any other sort of disorder/disease or just in general want to be healthier and have a better functioning body.

I myself take flaxseed oil with ground up flaxseeds twice daily. The first few times the taste was appalling to me but my body quickly got hooked and I actually crave the flavor now, something so wholesome about it...

From what i have read too much can actually be very harmful in terms of the blood being too thin.

how much do you all take?

and they say on that site to take fish oil because you are ingesting EPA/DHA. Flax Oil and Vegetarian sources of Omega 3 is ALA and ALA converts to EPA/DHA at varying rates in different people. In the end... what you want is the EPA/DHA so what is the point of taking flax?

I take about 1000mg of Omega 3 fish oils daily, mostly for circulation and general body balance :)

Half my family is italian/maltese so I've taken that as a sign to not object to Omega 3 and vitamin C supplements! I'm sure the resveratrol is working wonders for my genes as well hehe :)

a word of warning...nothing is more trendy when it comes to supplements & snake oil than the body building community. I don't take what they say too seriously unless it is a discussion about something long term like protein.

I have been a reader of bodybuilding.com for 7 years. I'm not a bbuilder but I love that site...so much useful info and cheap place to order protein and other supplements online.

There are definitely threads of truth in this but do remember that Omegas aren't the only way to reduce inflammation. Reducing inflammation seems to be crucial for controlling hair loss internally, IMO.

I do it with curcumin, resveratrol, vitamin D, Omega 3 (moderate dose) and a strict diet, stuff like that, but erm, yeah I'll have a look into why Omegas are particularly good for this a little bit later (I've done SO much heavy reading recently lol >.<)

I can pick up flax seed oil that has been refrigerated from time it was processed to the time I picked it up off the shelf that comes in a light proof container at my local supermarket. I can only pick up crap fish oil that probably sat in a non refrigerated warehouse for a long time before being delivered to the medicine isle in a warm section of the store sitting in a translucent bottle. That's the point of taking flax.

Megadosing anything is usually a bad idea.

Also there have been a lot of studied recently showing that many brands of fish oil have high levels of PCBs. Not something you want to be taking a lot of. Not sure bad I do not think PCBs can be too good for hair ;-)

for one megadosing (25 - 50g or 8 - 15mg EPA/DHA [er day) helps to kill inflamation in the body

also... taking in that much fat should really rev up your metabolism. Doubt anyone would get fat from eating too much fish oil.

Why do you believe fish oil doesn't make you fat if you eat large quantities? It still has 9 calories/gram same as any other fat.

Even a megadose of it would be a few tablespoons a day, not something that would put a dent in your belt buckle.
