Does Anyone Else Lose Most Of Their Shed Hair During The Day And None At Night?

I'm not sure if this is just me, but I think my shedding is very weird. When I wake up I do my usual ritual of running my hands through my hair for 5 - 10 minutes every morning over the sink I lose 90 - 110 hairs on average. That's over 100 hairs lost within 5 - 10 minutes of being awake. When I shower about an hour later I'll lose another 40 - 50 washing, drying and styling. Then throughout the rest of the day I'll lose maybe 30 - 40 but when 9pm rolls around I lose almost no hairs at all. I spent a few minutes tonight ( just a short while ago ) running my hands through my hair and I got ZERO hairs. Why does this happen? I shed about 3 days worth of hair ( for non balding people ) in the first few hours of the day but lose very few at night.. Why is this happening? Does this happen to anyone else? I'm so confused by all of this.

I think we lose hair evenly through the whole day and night. What you think has fallen in ten minutes probably is the result of hours of activity that went undetected.

I’ve seen photos of your hair Andy, why does it look so full if you are losing that much a day? I must be losing 500+ a day without realizing.

Saw for losing hairs, I’ll lose a few rubbing my head regardless of the time

Yeah thats exactly what I was thinking. Ive been actually losing around 300 a day and am having a massive drop in density to the point where people I havent seen in months are bringing it up in conversation while when looking at all of Andy's pics from the past and recent his hair density is the exact same even though I am probably only losing around 100 or so more than him now.

Yeah Andy, have you ever thought maybe you just shed a lot and regrow all of it? I lose about 50-60 a shower and im rocking a see through forward combover after only a few months.

Why is everyone so obsessed with shedding? You guys seriously COUNT your hair strands?

Hair shedding means nothing. Look at husky dogs, they literally constantly shed EVERYWHERE, do they go bald? Stop with the counting of strands, it is ridiculous. Get a job or a hobby.

Retinoid, you’re on here daily as well. I don’t get your condescending talk about getting a hobby tbh.

LOL exactly. He is also nearly a decade older us, obviously its more natural to freak out about hairloss when you just turned 21 rather than when your almost 30 and out of school and stuff. Especially when we just started to lose hair recently, I don't understand how anybody our age can go on with seeing all these hairs falling without freaking out and counting them, its just a natural reaction.

In Andy's case I can see why it makes sense because his sheds don't really correspond to a drop in density as we see from his pictures but for us and a lot of other diffused thinners losing hairs definitely show a drop in density so how can you not freak the f*** out.

I appreciate Retinoid's advice, and yes what he is saying about not freaking out is correct but it is not as simple as he makes in seem.

I think the worst "shed" I ever had was 17 hairs over the course of 4 hours -- probably mostly stress-related since I had a final exam that period--along time ago. I count at the most 4 or 5 hairs on my bed and pillow, and maybe at the most 10 in the shower. I probably see maybe 2 to 3 new hairs on my desk a day at the worst.

How the f*** are you people noticeably getting 50+ hairs a day (I don't mean super precise counting)? I probably notice at the worst 10 a day.

Now, I'm sure I lose more than 10 a day, but that's the number I notice. My shower drain has nothing in it. The only way I can count is if I either get a hair catcher or look at my hands after scrubbing my scalp. Even when I do that, the worse I'll get after scrubbing is maybe 5.

You're probably someone who rapidly sheds, but also has rapid replacement. My sister is also like that. She shed so many in the shower it always clogged up the shower drain. If you didn't have rapid replacement, you'd probably be diffuse Norwood 6/7 by now.

But I lose the 90 - 110 directly after I wake up, so I'm not doing anything besides bed stuff.

i think its probably because I use a thickening shampoo called Elvive Fibrology. It doubles my density after a single wash, I'd dare not go without it or my hair goes limp like my dick. I don't go out and socialise so I spent most of my time in the bathroom everyday counting my shed hairs, its very depressing.

Its not that hard, you just got to have the patience for it, I've turned it into some sort of sick, psychologically tortuous game. Feels bad man.

Andy, you sick c***, I’ve seen your pics and you’ve seen mine. Your hair is thick. You’re promoting thickening shampoo like it’s saw palmetto/rosemary oil.

PS: I might still try the shampoo ;)

Lmao! I admit it did seem like an advertisement reading it back now, but seriously its good stuff. If you order now I'll even throw in the Fibrology conditioner!
But wait there's more, order two Fibrology Shampoos within the next 24 hours and get the thickening mist spray for half price! You won't find a better deal anywhere.
