It's a common belief that food intake has not much effect on hair loss especially if you are genetically predisposed to male pattern baldness.
I do realize that genetics is the major culprit for hair loss, but based on my experience, what you eat matters somewhat.
To give you more background, I travel from Monday through Thursday for business purposes.
Because I rarely have to pay out of my pocket during those days, I usually get large meals with a couple of drinks here and there.
I try to squeeze in a lot veggies and fish, but usually end up eating a lot of bread, greasy food, and alcohol.
During weekends on the other hand, I try to eat very healthy and as little as possible.
I eat lots of veggies, grass fed lean beef, and at least three meals with fish.
Strange part is, I shed **** loads of hairs on weekdays when I am travelling (overeating), but during weekends, I shed almost no hair!
Just now, I had a huge dinner and noticed **** loads of hairs falling out from a shower.
I know that hair shafts/scalps aren't supposed to act that immediately and takes 2-3 months for the follicles to wither and eventually hit telogen phase (shedding).
However, another side of argument says that if you have a certain medical condition such as autoimmune disease (Celiac, Lupus), lactose intolerance, or thyroid condition (hypo, hyper, Graves, Hashimotos), your body can respond almost immediately to negative input.
I was curious if anybody has experienced almost immediate shedding from a large and/or unhealthy meals. If so, what was the work around for it? I would sincerely appreciate your response.
