Well, im going to my 3rd round of accutane, im 25yrs old and my first round was in 2012(20mg/day), second in 2015(40>60mg day). In the second i noticed alot of shedding and hair loss, i was desperate. I kinda promised myself although beside the hair loss i hadnt any side effect i would never came back to this drug again. Guess what, here i am, swalloing this pill again.
My hair recovered slowly after i quit the drug, im not near shedding the amount of hair i used to back in the day, like 200 - 300 hairs day. But i dont know how permanent was the extent of the damage since i have a very thick hair.
Im satisfied with the current state of my hair im probably NW1 and my father is a very thick NW2 at 60's i would happily accept my final hair as a thick NW2 like my father. My only fear is the worsening of it. Thats why i was trying to avoid accutane, but i cant, my skin getting worse to the point i cant simple take pleasure of simple things of life. Im avoinding eat anything, i found myself starving out of carbs because of it, i wasnt taking my girlfriend to eat something like pizza anymore. I developed some stomatch problems because i wasnt eating anymore, because everything i eat, would break me out. This concern took me again to a deep stage of depression and my derm decided to put me in a micro accutane dose, 30mg WEEK, and im starting off with 20mg week.
My only fear is losing my hair again, so im playing with two options here: taking the risk of losing hair to save my skin from future permanent scarring. Or watch my skin deteriorate from acne. I choose to take the risk of this micro-dose. And i really hope that with this very low dose, my hair doesnt shed crazy like it shed back in 2015.
I know a lot of people here is concerned with accutane, thats why i will leave here the current state of my hair, and will update with time, and i would like to have you guys opinion to evaluate the current state of my hair. and my norwood stage, Thanks.
