Do you "listen" to your scalp?

I have been using minoxidil for 8 year but recently my scalp has started to hate it along with CPs and Nizoral. I feel my scalp has become OVERLY sensitive for some reason. My brain tells me to apply minoxidil twice a day, but my scalp clearly doesn't like it. It feels painful, irritated and dried up as soon as the minoxidil touches it. I have now reduced usage to once every night. Is this the right approach? When in doubt should you listen to your scalp/body or continue a "typical" regimen?

Do you use liquid or foam?

Try switching to foam. Its much easier on the scalp. I used liquid for around 6 months, nothing but a flakey, red sensetive scalp. With foam ive had good to reasonable re-growth with no sensetivity issues or dry skin.

Dude, if you're shedding even nowhere near as badly as you have been claiming, you should be bald by now and that would be a good reason to drop the minoxidil once and for all. But for some reason I think you've been exaggerating your sheds just a touch  . Anyway, the only thing that has helped my scalp has been the reduction of fast carbs in my diet. I decided to eat a couple of candies and drink some booze together with energy drink the last weekend and guess what: the scalp feels irritated as f***, the worst it's been for a long while.

Already tried foam for 6 months last year and experienced a constant shed from hell. For me it was more effective than Nair. I went back to Dr Lee's Xandrox 5 % w/o PPG.

GHG,

Trust me baldness is not that simple. My crown is very thin, like yours (actually a little worse). My hairline is intact. The hair in the crown area is thinner and flimsy. Density is 30 percent of what I have on the sides and back. In direct light you see my scalp clearly in the crown region which is appauling to me. I really want to shave this sh*t off but my family and friends talk me out of it each time. To them a shaved head is no different from walking around naked on the street, ie total loss of dignity or shameful act. Also I manage 50 people mostly guys. All the f'in guys are Nw1 with thick manes and cool hair styles (some of them are over 40 for cryin out loud). If I shave my head completly I will be the laughing stock of the whole team.

Therefore shaving will not be so simple unless I chose to become a hermit. We live in a f'd up and shallow society.

I can see through my hair all around on the top of my head. Everywhere. I can actually see the individual hairs when looking at my hair under a bright light, it's that thin. f*****g ridiculous for a 25 yr old. At least you're closer to 30, right?

Yeah, I am 31. Been loosing since 18, but to be honest my baldness became noticable only at around 29. Prior to that I had outstanding density, healthier scalp and stronger hair.

Sorry to hear that Emex, but honestly hairloss sucks at any age. I know there are some teens on these forums who are NW3 plus.

It's not a matter of being able to afford.....if you read my old posts I have tried pretty much everything including finasteride which did nothing for me. The only thing I have yet to try is dutasteride, but from what I have read it's no better than finasteride. I am a diffuse thinner so a hair transplant (with the chance of shock loss) is out of the question. I know that if I ever went for a transplant, it would have to be Dr Armani or Wong since they are the best.

Dude, it looks like you have money, so I gotta ask...why is your regimen so seemingly basic?

I doubt he actually owns those cars

Have you been reading the posts by Michael Barry and BornThisWay and Jacob? They have, posted a lot of interesting stuff, including (but certainly not limited to) ECGC, piperine, sage, coal tar extract, blood of the dragon (for corosolic acid), red clover blossom, adenosine.

Regarding dutasteride, I believe taking that in conjunction with finasteride give you the best shot if you are going to take those drugs. I've read here once about how they work slightly differently.
