So when I first went on finasteride it was for a receding hairline, still had great density and no crown loss. Now 3 years later, hairline has receded further, but not too much, and no crown bald spot still, but my density has gone to absolute sh*t. Have lost like 80%+ of my hair, and losing density on sides and back as well. Do you think something else may be going on as well other than male pattern baldness? I just have no idea why I am not responding at all, and why I got this brutal diffuse thinning that kicked in. Anyone else have this, and figure out it was something else going on?

Started with .5mg, upped to 1mg after couple months, then upped to 2mg after 1.5 years of horrible results, did 5mg for a couple months, then tried dutasteride for a while (got sides on that, hair still continued to decline), now on just .5mg for past couple weeks. Worst thing is, hair loss doesn't really run in my family. Majority of family members don't start balding til late 40s. Dad started in early 40s. Both my older brothers have no hair loss. Don't know where the hell I inherited this sh*t from, and sucks even more that I don't respond to any of the approved treatments.

Can you post photos of what you are talking about. I remember your last photos did not show that you had a big problem. How is your thyroid? Do you have any gut issues like gastritis? I went below baseline all over after being on finasteride for over 12 years and my crown was fine at the start. Recently my crown is getting worse. My hair dry looks way better than when wet. These treatments will not halt balding if you are not a great responder. Some people just won't respond as well as others.
I'll post some pics later. It's not just below baseline, my density has tanked. I will take better pictures showing the density, hard to see what I am talking about in some of the photos cuz the lighting/camera angle. Hair is see through in like any lighting now. Grew my hair out bit longer recently cuz was looking at photos and realized how much thicker my hair looked when long compared to short before I started losing my hair. Looks like absolute garbage long now. Just feels so thin putting my hand through my hair. Idk if I have gastritis or what that is, but I have heartburn a decent amount. And thyroid was fine last time I checked it like 4 years ago I think.
This is terrifying....shedding like crazy right now, especially on the sides and back of my head. Like 30 hairs in my comb when I just comb the very back of my head a few times. Think I'm going to quit finasteride. Whenever I go on it my hair seems to take a massive hit.
Ye that ain't gonna help. Given it 3 years. Just isn't a good drug for me.
23. Started treatments at 20. Hair loss started at 19 at temples. Hair loss kicked into hydro-gear like 4-5 months into treatments on finasteride and minoxidil. Was shedding 300+ hairs a day. Everyone was saying its just a shed and that it means I was a good responder....sike, none of the hair grew back and shedding continued. Even if this stuff is slowing my hair loss down, if its only slowing it down this much don't see how it is possibly worth it. Have been losing hair all over my body since starting this sh*t. Never had much body hair, but my body hair is like non-existent now. Facial hair was starting to grow in before getting on this stuff, facial hair is absolute sh*t now. Sideburns are thin af now too. Eyebrows are thinning. Feel like my libido might be lower on this stuff too. Definitely had no thinning in the non-male pattern baldness areas, hair is thinning like crazy on sides and back now. So many fucked up damaged hairs all over my head, especially on the back. Don't see how its worth possibly slowing my loss down a minuscule amount, if even, if it might be causing this hair loss everywhere else.

If I was you I would get a hair peace and forget about hairloss the hair peaces look so real these days I saw guys on YouTube with them on that's what I'm probably going to do if finasteride don't work out for me I hope you recover from the bad sides you got from the finasteride
I didn't get bad sides. Just continued loss. Finasteride often causes body hair and facial hair loss as well because dht causes growth their while it causes loss on your head.

The only thing I worry about is getting man boobs and gaining lots of fat everything else I can live with
Gyno is a rare side, and gaining fat isn't a thing. Some people get androgen upregulation, where loss is actually increased, but its pretty uncommon as well.

My Doctor said I would get man boobs put me right of taking it I wish I didn't listen to him wasted about 4 months of not takeing it my family keep putting me off as well

Yeah doesn't mean I should be losing more hair on the meds that are supposed to slow it down.
