Hello all,

I'm hoping for a few opinions on my receding hair line and whether or not I need to start some prevention methods now to stop it going any further?

I'm lucky and my family doesn't really have any history of dramatic hair loss. Currently I'm 25 and have no problem with my hair but I have recently noticed it has started to slightly recede around the temples. I have long hair so you cant really tell but I was wondering if I should act now before it goes further or perhaps this is completely normal and I shouldn't bother? I've attached 4 images below 3 with wet hair (which looks worse).
Any advice is greatly appreciated! Hair 1.jpgHair 2.jpgHair 3.jpgHair 4.jpg

With wet hair it's pretty obvious that it's started to recede, I see a Norwood 2/2.5. You can start the Big three or you can just try finasteride out. It takes time to start to work so don't expect it to make it better quickly its a lengthy process. The big three are Finasteride, Minoxidil, and Nizoral. I recommend just starting off on Finasteride, and maybe Nizoral. The reason I don't suggest minoxidil is because to keep the results you get from it you'll have to apply it for the rest of your life. If you're okay with that then go for it.

Go to a doctor ask about the side effects on finasteride, its a proven drug to help against male pattern baldness. There are some side effects that some people get, but a majority don't. I personally think your hair doesn't look that bad while its dry, but I can see how it looks worse as wet. Good luck.

Get on finasteride. Whilst your hair is okay in general real life terms(for some on here it would be suicidal territory), you don't want further loss. Finasteride is best to stop further loss and the guy above is correct, best to just use that. It might get some regrowth too. Analyse at the one year mark. If you want more growth, Minoxidil (hassle) or hair transplant.

Nizoral has a small effect on keeping the scalp clean, good to use if you have a red itchy scalp for example.

Many thanks for the quick replies!

Wolf Pack :- Your spot on in real life you can't really tell because my hair is quite long, so I'll keep suicide as a plan B for now... haha.

Just been reading about this Finasteride though ... what an awful decision to make! On one hand you can keep your hair and lose your sex life and on the other you can lose your hair and reduce the opportunity for a sex life.

Isnt life just sometimes swell ;)

The chances for sides are very low and usually reversible. Contrary to what some would have you believe its a relatively harmless medication.

Do your research and monitor your hair and if you notice any movement; jump on.
