jw if any of you smoke and if smoking is a contributing factor in hair loss? been reading stuff about how it messes up circulation to your hair, but who knows what to believe or not these days.

recently started up again :( hoping to quit soon, been smoking less the last couple days though :)

I am. Started as an emo act but it helps well to fight my mood swings. It has zero impact in your hairloss.

I've smoked a total of about 20 cigarettes in my life, all in social situations. I was told growing up by health teachers at school that all it takes is 1 cigarette for you to become addicted. (which i think is total crap)
anyway, funny thing is if my parents ever caught me smoking they would attribute my hairloss to that and blame me instead of the sh1tty genes I inherited

I smoke, 3-4 cigarettes a day. It's not why I have male pattern baldness. It doesn't help, but it probably doesn't hurt much either.

mega−6 fatty acids relative to certain omega-3 fatty acidsmay increase the probability of a number of diseases.[SUP][4][/SUP][SUP][5][/SUP][SUP][6][/SUP] However, scientific research indicates that air pollution, smoking, second-hand smoke, and other exogenous toxins cause the initial inflammation in the cells which leads to the overexpression of the COX-2 enzyme and subsequently to the overproduction of inflammatory promoting prostaglandinsfrom Arachidonic acid for the purpose of alerting the immune system of the cell damage and eventually to the production of anti-inflammatory prostaglandins during the resolution phase of inflammation, after the cell damage has been repaired.[SUP][7][/SUP][SUP][8][/SUP][SUP][9][/SUP][SUP][10][/SUP][SUP][11][/SUP]

It has zero impact in your hairloss.

But it will make you look like sh*t if you keep it up. A lot of my friends who have been smoking for years, look beyond their age. People who are suffering from hairloss that smoke, and complain that they look terrible, are not doing themselves and their looks a favor by lighting up.

I smoked like 60 a day for years, gave it up and started vaping instead, i stopped smoking before my hair loss started, i had a full head of hair when i was smoking i don't think it makes any difference.
