Thank you for the feedback Ruby, how long were your recently receeded areas barren before you noticed terminal hairs coming back? My wife just had our first child last month and fortunately her libido is just as low as mine at the moment. I did notice that when I took 40mg of zinc in the morning while on finasteride I would suddenly have a raging sex drive throughout the rest of the day.
Congrats on the newborn!!!!!
Yes zinc supplements will boost testosterone production and raise your libido... and then your body will turn around and use the 5-a reductase in your own hair follicles to convert that extra testosterone into DHT which then starts killing the very same follicles that converted it like a damn curse.
My bald areas have been bald for anywhere from 3 to 25 years. I've been on hard-core transgender hormone therapy for only 3 months... started with finasteride, spironolactone and estradiol taken as oral meds, switched from finasteride to dutasteride one month ago and added the topical Oestrogel at that time too. Before starting all that, I'd only started the minoxodil and nizoral for one month prior. I used minoxidil many years ago, when I was in my early 30s but it was prescription-only and prohibitively expensive to buy back then, and also an expensive hassle to repeatedly visit a dermatologist to keep getting refills so I just gave up hope and was miserable for the next 20-25 years seeking other forms of escapism. I never could afford trying finasteride back when it might have done me some good. I'm 54 now and suddenly events have come together that finally I can afford to throw the whole 9 yards not just at my hairloss, but also fix a lot of other things (e.g. gender dysphoria, bad teeth, etc) that have made my whole life suck for over a quarter century. (e.g. just dropped nearly $40K on starting cosmetic dental work

)
As to the regrowth I'm seeing now, on the vertex/crown areas where the hair loss has been the most recent, the hairs that are coming back are coming back initially as terminal hairs.... miniaturized but terminal nonetheless, and the longer they get, the thicker they're getting at the bases so I know my regimen is going to save them. On my temples and forward hairline, so far only thin white peach fuzz at the leading edges that have been bald the longest, but the number of those per square millimeter is quite dense. The further back, the bigger the vellus hair. It will probably take at least 2 to 3 years to really see how much I'll get back before I'll have to resort to FUE transplants to repair my forward hairline. Until then, it's wig city
