Dht Test Results After One Month On .5 dutasteride Eod

215 pounds, 6'4, and I lift weights daily. One month in and I've seen a noticeable increase in my lifting performance but my sex drive has diminished to the point where I only think about masturbating once a week or less. I have seen no hairs fall out as of the past three weeks.

Backstory - 32 and I was taking finasteride .25 eod for eight months but failed to halt my sudden frontal recession (only initially gained some ground three months in and then lost everything by month eight). I was bordering on a Norwood 2 when I consulted a hair transplant doctor about bringing on the big guns, dutasteride, and now here I am.... I use minoxidil foam 5% 2x daily for over a year and keto 3x a week. Can I expect to see regrowth on dutasteride with a DHT level of a toddler or is the most I can hope for is maintenance followed by a minimal hair transplant?

Why are you on dutasteride? You barely took finasteride. Try 1mg finasteride ed before you pull out dutasteride. ESPECIALLY considering you said you have sides.

I understand your point Joey and that's exactly what the transplant doctor saId as well. I panicked as the loss of my temples was pretty devastating for me and after reading the different clinical trials which show dutasteride outperformed finasteride I wasn't willing to risk any further loss. With that being said.. If my temples are covered in peachfuzz, is there anything in addition to minoxidil that will help turn these hairs terminal once more?

Time... and a maybe a couple of complete anagen/catagen/telogen/exogen cycles with a steady amount of 5ar inhibitor in your system, regular and steady use of minoxidil as the growth stimulant, and proper nutrition and maintenance of the rest of your health. One thing that may help, but if you're normal-gendered is very risky, is topical estrogen. Several members here have tried it with some good results on hair regrowth, but with side effects they do not want (e.g. gyno, even-more-reduced libido, etc).

Full disclosure: I am transgender and putting enough Oestrogel on my head to grow full-size breasts and my libido is completely nonexistant anymore, but it's definitely having a positive effect on my hair. And I'm good with that since I don't really like sex anyway and only interested in improving my aesthetics for selfish vanity reasons.

Thank you for the feedback Ruby, how long were your recently receeded areas barren before you noticed terminal hairs coming back? My wife just had our first child last month and fortunately her libido is just as low as mine at the moment. I did notice that when I took 40mg of zinc in the morning while on finasteride I would suddenly have a raging sex drive throughout the rest of the day.

Congrats on the newborn!!!!!

Yes zinc supplements will boost testosterone production and raise your libido... and then your body will turn around and use the 5-a reductase in your own hair follicles to convert that extra testosterone into DHT which then starts killing the very same follicles that converted it like a damn curse.

My bald areas have been bald for anywhere from 3 to 25 years. I've been on hard-core transgender hormone therapy for only 3 months... started with finasteride, spironolactone and estradiol taken as oral meds, switched from finasteride to dutasteride one month ago and added the topical Oestrogel at that time too. Before starting all that, I'd only started the minoxodil and nizoral for one month prior. I used minoxidil many years ago, when I was in my early 30s but it was prescription-only and prohibitively expensive to buy back then, and also an expensive hassle to repeatedly visit a dermatologist to keep getting refills so I just gave up hope and was miserable for the next 20-25 years seeking other forms of escapism. I never could afford trying finasteride back when it might have done me some good. I'm 54 now and suddenly events have come together that finally I can afford to throw the whole 9 yards not just at my hairloss, but also fix a lot of other things (e.g. gender dysphoria, bad teeth, etc) that have made my whole life suck for over a quarter century. (e.g. just dropped nearly $40K on starting cosmetic dental work )

As to the regrowth I'm seeing now, on the vertex/crown areas where the hair loss has been the most recent, the hairs that are coming back are coming back initially as terminal hairs.... miniaturized but terminal nonetheless, and the longer they get, the thicker they're getting at the bases so I know my regimen is going to save them. On my temples and forward hairline, so far only thin white peach fuzz at the leading edges that have been bald the longest, but the number of those per square millimeter is quite dense. The further back, the bigger the vellus hair. It will probably take at least 2 to 3 years to really see how much I'll get back before I'll have to resort to FUE transplants to repair my forward hairline. Until then, it's wig city
