Your levels are at the lower end of the normal scale.... a lower chance of hair loss to the guy that could be on the higher end of the scale

Thank you for that, that is really interesting, have had hairloss since i was 21, now 30..nw2 but will be a nw3 in a few years Its been slow hairline receding. Think its time to jump on ru and minoxidil and change the diet etc.

@Recon_s Can you clarify?

Higher DHT = lower chance of Hairloss?

.24

Or is it the opposite?

I’m also on the low range and was worried about trying meds because he might push me lower/out of normal range?

No its the lower the DHT levels the less likely you are to lose your hair as we know DHT attacks the hair follicles. This is why people use DHT blockers to stop the production of DHT

I'm really confused now. I just read it that was a reverse reading. I thought the same and stayed away because I was worried the result would go too low if reduced by up to 70%. But if it a reverse I have some room for a decline while staying well within normal. Hoping to start an AA soon. I have topical finasteride and oral trying to decide. Any senior members with experience able to weigh in on baseline labs (attached).
I'm fit, healthy perfect diet. Clean scalp. No other issues.

low oestradiol = perfect
low serum dht = if you take AA it will go even lower = higher risk of sides = more chance of gyno = like me

Your base DHT-levels doesn't matter. You can have low DHT, still be NW7 at 25 and you can have really high levels while maintaining your teenage hairline. It's all about how sensitive your follicles are.

Your free testosterone is quite good but estradiol is low and progesterone is high. I'm not sure if this relationship affects the impact of dht on hair but I suggest consulting your MD regarding the other imbalances. Supplementing with DHEA might balance more. Check with physician.

I also got my blood tested but the doctor failed to include DHT. Specifically mentioned to include it tho...
Anyways I'm wondering what DHEA sulfate is and does (for hair or in general) since some people here commented on it

@bluecyclone, your TSH is not normal. That is your problem. That is why you have diffuse loss. Your DHT is normal range. Your androgen sensitivity at the follicular level which is genetic will dictate if how badly you will present with male pattern baldness.

Thanks. I swear I can’t get an endocrinologist to acknowledge the TSH issue. My Hairloss started with a thyroid issue two years ago and has been declining fast. Shouldn’t I try to get back on T4. Have you tried T3?

You should be on synthroid, the name brand. My endo says you don't need T3 as long as synthroid does it job. He said taking T3 could cause heart problems. You need to get your TSH to around 1.5 to 2. Your reading of 5 is terrible. Your energy must be low with that. I have Hashimoto's and my TSH level were always normal along with T3/T4. I asked my endo to put me on T4(synthroid) only because I read it could keep the thyroid alive longer and keep it from killing itself. So far it's working.

Thanks for the information. I need a new endocrinologist. With any thyroid thinning would there still be a change toy eh quality of the hair or is that all AA? I get the diffuse loss but since the thyroid has been off the hair itself has been dead? Wasn’t sure if thyroid could also lead to weaker hair. I also read there’s a correlation with the low ferritin. I’m taking 380 per day and can’t get over 46, up from 32.

I was able to get the H&W topical gel at 1% from Italy and I’m considering starting that once I have an answer on thyroid.

@yourworld001 I had it done in the US, I used the baseline chart from PropeicaHelp.com the PCP and endocrinologist said they didn’t even know how to read some of the results. Those are just the greatest hits.
