Hello,

I have just seen a derm about what I thought to be the beginning of male pattern baldness.
He told me that the vertex zone was absolutely perfect (which is rare), but he saw some thinning in the front zone. Thus, he told me it was the beginning of light male pattern baldness and prescribed Minoxidil 5% (no finasteride).

However, I have now some doubts : if there is just thinning at the front, could it be just maturing hairline ?
What I fear is that Minoxidil could make things worse, and I do not really want to start a life treatment if this is just maturing hairline.

Thanks for your help.

Note : my frontal hairline is very low, like 5.5 cm above my eyebrows. I would not mind it to move forward, by 1 cm for example.

Since when was having a perfect crown rare? In many male pattern baldness cases the crown is the last to go or start thinning.
