Could this be Telogen Effluvium?

Last April I was in a bad car accident where I had a minor head injury and a major knee injury. In May I had surgery. All summer I've been noticing excessive hair loss and now I've noticed the top part of my hair on my head is very thin, especially in front. Could this be from the accident and surgery?

Is there anyone else here who lost hair from something like this? Did your hair grow back?

Help! I'm in panic mode right now.

Telogen effluvium occurs when there is some shock to your system such as surgery, childbirth, illness, weightloss, accidents....I was told by several derms that I most likely have Telogen Effluvium because I think they really couldn't find an answer to why I am loosing my hair. They did say however that Telogen Effluvium is just a temporary thing...though I am going on 2 1/2 years now, but everyone is different.
