Recently inquired about a hair transplant and was told I was not a candidate given the size of the recipient area and the lack of the donor area.

I’ve been interested in looking for a hair system, but honestly have no idea where to start. I’m currently living as an expat in Germany. I would assume it would be easier to go somewhere for the first time rather than purchase directly online, but any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Rob

You could do it either way. There are certainly reputable and competent hair system suppliers in Germany (I will PM you a few ideas on that) or you could buy on-line. Using a salon is much more expensive, but easier in that they will do everything for you - you just have to turn up. Buying on-line involves a bit more research and work, but is much cheaper. Both are very doable though.

I personally think that if you plan to wear a system you should in the medium term aim to become self-sufficient, by learning to buy your own units and do your own maintenance. But if you have the money to spare there is certainly something to be said for getting professional help and support for your first system, provided you pick somewhere good.
