Hey everyone, I hope you could help me with something...

I've been experiencing hair loss for a couple of years, I would say I'm about a Type III according to this Norwood Scale (except slightly more hair)

Now I've done propecia, rogaine, etc and it hasn't worked, so I'm left with other hair restoration options. Since I do not want to opt for surgery I wanted to know this:

Is it possible to get some sort of "piece" that could be ingrained into my current hairline and not be noticeable? And if so, what would this piece be called?

Also might be important to mention that I do style my hair in a manner similar to someone like William Shatner (who is known to wear a piece):

...except I'm not completely bald and was wondering if this was possible.

Thank you so much for your help

a good one costs tens of thousands of dollars to buy and maintain.

Anything that doesn't cost as much as a car is noticeable. Hell even many that do cost as much as a car are noticeable for anything more than just passing someone on the street without saying hello.

Thousand of dollars ? what are you talking about ???????
There are pieces that cost around 300 $ from a few companies for the whole top of the head where you can't see a thing . I've seen a few pics of people that wear them it looks just like normal hair .

Preston that was my assumption as well, and I was told they had to go and "maintain them" at a professional every three months or so

I dunno man, these look fine to me: http://www.hairdirect.com/

The thousands of dollars thing is news to me as well, they seem very affordable and look very reasonable. I will almost definitely wear one if I fail to save my hair for whatever reason.

Are you sure in your case you can't save your hair though? ._.

My regimen comes up the problem from more angles than just DHT and stuff, so maybe it's a further idea for you, who knows :)

Yeah I was thinking if I ever were to get one I would get it unattached and re-attached once a week (at first like "professionally", but then I'm sure one would learn in time).

Go over to toplace.com and have a read of their forums. They'll be more than willing to help you out and they are significantly cheaper than what has been mentioned in here.
I think what you are looking for is a partial topper/wig, it's called something like that. It is like half the size and you blend it in with the hair you already have.

Don't listen to Doug, he has no idea.

You can easily maintain and manage them yourself. Like I said, go have a look at toplace, you'll get all your answers over there.

you can give yourself a haircut too but it's going to look like sh*t. the fact is that unless you are a celebrity a hair system is not practicable.

The ones on hair direct really do look fine to me.

I dunno I mean, shop around and have an open mind and see what you find, if it's something you are interested in.

I saw some videos on normal, everyday people with them on youtube, and they looked great. I mean I know YT vids are a bit blurry, but even the close-ups on hair direct look great. Maybe there's something I'm missing, but I for one don't really see the problem with them for people who have lost their hair, or lost too much hair for them to be comfortable with their appearance.

Exactly Hoppi I've seen some great ones, I wonder if the people posting negative comments about them have actually used them and used them properly?
