Hi Gents,

I am looking to get some opinions as to what I should do next. I am 36 and have had hair loss for about 10 years. I noticed the top of my hair was not just as thick as the rest of the hair at 26 (diffuse thinning all over the top) but did nothing about it untill about 5 years ago. I tried a number of "natural" remedies (including Zix) with some success but noticed the crown continued to thin.

dutasteride, finasteride and Propecia are not possible for me due to previous illness that I don't want to mess with.

I am currently on 5% minoxidil twice a day, Skinoren (Azelaic acid) twice a day, Nizoral 2% shampoo 3 times a week, Revita 4 times a week, take multivitamins, eat healthly and am fit and healthy. This has been my regime for 2 years. The top front of my hair has thickened up fully as it was when I was 20, however, my crown has thinned so much I now am at the stage of having a bald patch. Males on my mum's side all have thick wild hair and on my dad's side only have receding hairlines (which eventually go far back as they hit 60). My brother is 40 and still has thick hair all over. (and I know I am not adopted! LOL!)

So, the question is, what other topical can I add to help? Nizoral cream? dermaroller? Laser? (assume lasers don't work)?

I am very close to giving up and stopping all the hairloss meds, because my hair looks crap anyway! Any opinions welcome, as I plan to give it to the summer then get out the shaver!

Thanks, Silver.

Hey. I don't think laser's a good idea, not worked for anyone i know. The derma-roller might be a better idea, I have heard of people having success with it to help the ingredients penetrate better - just make sure you buy from a reputable seller, i don't recoomend buying this on e-bay!

It was a renal disease triggered by puberty (change in hormone levels). I have had transplants and don't want to much about with my hormone levels too much, so want to sttay away from dutasteride, propecia and finasteride.

They're pretty much the only effective treatments there are.

if youve had kidney transplants, ur right not to mess around with finasteride, dutasteride, etc, best leave ur hormones alone.

they are not the only treatment available, and they may not even work for some people, finasteride didnt work for me.

id try lasers, and some supplements such as IH's top six.

now its true theres no proof lasers work, or supplements, but at least its something else u can try that is harmless, alot of ppl swear by it, even though theres no proof. believe me im not saying it works or doesnt work.

personally its my opinion that nothing works for me, and ive accepted that, while i still try certain supplements, i think for most people ur genes dictate the way ur hairloss plays out, and no matter wat drug u take to block something, ur genes win out in the end.

so my advice is try things that are harmless to try, rather than risk ur health with drugs in ur condition. lasers and supplements lack proof, but at least they wont make it worse, or harm ur body.

Lasers are bullshit...dont waste your money. They're the newest snake oil.

I'm 25..began losing hair at 21/22. First route I went was bought a hairmax laser comb. It cost me $500 (and I was a broke guy just out of school..had to make payments on it..but i was desperate). Its time consuming and it didnt do a damn thing. I have not seen 1 person on this forum have any results using just the laser comb.

God damn i wish i had taken advantage of the 20 day money back guarantee. Could really use that $500! :sobbing:

Second that! A friend of mine in Portugal has used a lasercomb for absolutely months. Results? Nothing whatsoever.

Yeah I would love to sell mine for a couple hundred bucks...but I think I would feel bad just knowing I'm ripping someone off who is probably desperate

Lazercomb is simply the 00's version of the 1980's head massagers, theres absolutley no legitimate reason why it would work.

course a lazer comb doesnt work its got 1 5mw laser and a mirror.

other people and clinics use hoods with 100-400 of the same lasers, and still with questionable results.

Oh gawd..not another Top 6'r :woot: :)

I'd rather spend my money on something like this: http://www.europharmausa.com/products/hair-renew-formula/ or some other decent hair formula. Even that AC-11 that I may take again. I even think the PQQ/COQ10 combo has been helping.

But to SilverFox..sounds like maybe you should stick with what you're using except maybe use something different or add something to use on your crown.

im not 'another top 6'er', im just saying its something else he can try without the risk of shedding half his hair like the 'big 3' can do.

im of the opinion that nothing works for me, so ive given up

well i havent given up 100%, but ive stopped everything, except this one supplment im trying. theres a true story about how fusion supplments regrew hair in a 10 yr old girl with alopecia areata, it was on a current affairs program in australia called today, tonight.

her hair did regrow, but whether or not this supplement did it or not remains to be seen. anyway im trying this cos its in my local health food shop.

im open to any suggestions jacob? free guinea pig here! tried everything else.

Are you a female? I doubt this will do any good for us blokes.

She had sudden hair loss, it could be a possible miss-diagnosis and was rather some type of rare disease?

She is also only 10, how many cycles of hair loss could she have gone through at such an early age when she went bold in 2 weeks?

For $40 for a month supply the capsules are rather expensive and she used 2 sets of capsules.

It also doesn't say how long she took it for or if she still takes them.

It might work, but I reckon the chances of this working for 99.99999999% of the people out there is 0.

Well..there's too much to suggest. I mean there's quite a few new or newer topicals even I'd like to use but don't have the room for! I guess topicals would be my suggestion..if you aren't using them.

That product reminds me of another that may be similar..that I've thought of trying before. Can't think of it at the moment..but I'm sure it'll come to be eventually. I'm also into mushroom extracts lately....some seem to be good for the hair.

An obvious thing you could try would be prescription Proxiphen, provided you can afford it (the stuff's expensive). It's a topical cream with several powerful ingredients. A second, much cheaper possibility would be Prox-N, which has some of the same ingredients as Proxiphen, but is "over-the-counter". One of those things may be all you need! Considering the difficult circumstances of your medical problems, though, I'd suggest contacting the doctor who sells them, just to pass it by him, first. Make sure he says it's okay to use them.

Yeah Bryan i guess it needs to be expensive if it's going to make commission for it's promoters ie You !

I'm really suprised at how long you have been pushing this crap, don't you have any morals, ethics, standards? or maybe your moto is look after number 1 You !

Have you got some sort of a deal with these hair loss forums going where they allow you to do this? If i was in charge you would be banned !

Bryan is a shill for Proctor and his products. He's been shill 'n spam'n the crap for 15+ years. There are plenty of doctors with hair loss products out there. With patents on their ingreds/products as well. In fact, one of those doctors..Dr. Lee..for all these years.. has been bashed and ridiculed and questioned by Bryan. Bryan wants us to just trust and believe Proctor because he's a Dr, but isn't consistent when it comes to other Drs and their products. There is no evidence for Proctor's/Bryan's claims or wishes. Not only has Proctor not said which specific cu peptides are used, but he and Bryan also talk about "mysterious ingredients" that are not in the ingreds list(s). Snake-oil talk that is supposed to get you even more excited about the products. The same goes for their- "better bang for the buck" talk regarding getting the non-prescription products from places outside of Proctor's website. They want you to believe those cheaper versions are lite/watered-down...are you really going to purchase a lite/watered-down version of a product for something so difficult to treat as male pattern baldness? Buy the "more potent" crap directly from Proctor and he makes a bit more money. And to top it all off...Bryan doesn't even use the products himself, and hasn't since he supposedly did so well on one of them probably 15 years ago! He's pushing crap he supposedly doesn't even use- so don't bother asking him for updated before/afters. For all the reasons above..he should have been laughed out of these forums years ago.
