Buzz Cut Advice

I'm ready to buzz my hair. But I am hoping some guys with diffuse thinning could share some insight relative to my situation, so I know what to expect before I go through with the buzz cut.

It's the start of the summer, so I figure it's the perfect time to go with a buzz cut for the first time. I'm fairly sure my hair loss is diffuse thinning, but I'm unsure how much it has progressed and how noticeable my hair loss would be with a buzz cut. I have a very strong cowlick on my right temple that might be making my hair loss worse than it actually is. Possibly my hair is just unhealthy. Although I use conditioner daily when I shower, my hair usually has an unhealthy dry look to it, but it always feels very soft after I shower and let it dry.

Here's a link to my "Tell Your Story" post: http://www.hairlosstalk.com/interact/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=43252

I have been taking finasteride (1mg daily, alternating Propecia bought in America and Finpecia ordered online) since May 2006. I also use 1% Nizoral shampoo (every 2-3 days).

Before I buzz it, I would really like to get an idea of what to expect my hair will look like (given the diffuse thinning) afterwards. How diffuse is my hair loss (please see pictures below)? What length buzz cut would look best? I'm thinking 1/2" on the top and 1/4" on the back and sides. I have a Remington ShortCut clipper, so I can do the buzz cut myself and keep it the same length. Any insight is appreciated.

Also, I'm looking to get opinions on if a buzz cut would suit my head shape and face structure? I'm 6'5" and have a slender build with good lean muscle definition (I lift weights 3 times a week). I have a relatively small head circumference (size 7 1/8 hat), which causes my ears to somewhat protude. While I feel that's not exactly the ideal head shape / face structure for a buzz cut, I have a well-defined jaw line (a trait that often lends itself well to close-cropped haircuts).

Thanks. I look forward to your advice.

I don't know if it will be noticable, dude, but it doesn't matter. Noticing hair loss isn't an issue with buzzing, unless you're slick bald in large areas, in which case the person needs to shave to the skin. If you're happy with how it looks otherwise, then it'll be great.
