I've used it during all of my treatment in conjunction with minoxidil. I wouldn't quit using it.

I second Jayman.

I refuse to post information until he deletes his duplicate threads. If someone already posted a reply, change the headline to "deleted" in the one with the fewest or less informative replies.

dunno how to delete it

can you just ignore it?

or instead, you could just answer the question instead of making such a big deal

thanks for not helping!

spironolactone has been proven in hundreds of studies to inhibit androgen receptors through topical application. injesting it will not help you, unless you take a lot and feminize your whole body. There are no topical side effects, unless you are sensitive to the liquid it comes in, which may have PPG. It is not strong enough to stop hair loss by itself, like propecia can, but is strong enough that it is worth taking in combo with dutasteride or propecia. It is expensive if you buy it prepared, and cheap if you make your own. It works in a different way than any other members of the big 4 (finasteride/dutasteride, nizoral, minoxidil, tricomin). The only the cream stuff is good, though it is possible that anything with PPG is good. The stuff at minoxidil.com is messy. It reacts with minoxidil to make a stink.

thanks college! So I dont see it in your regime, you dont take it?

I havent responded to Propecia nor minoxidil (I still take them). My hair has thinned and shed non stop since 1 year ago.

Im guessing the amount of Test and DHt has been furiously high in my case.
I would venture to guess that many of teh more frequent forum users may have already deducted that these products may work on people who generate less DHT or Testosterone.

I did AVODART for 2 months but shed in the front like a cat so I stopped. So it actually screwed me.

Im hesitant to set myself up for more disappointment buying more products that dont work on me. Im willing to try spironolactone but chemically speaking I am ingorant of its value when used with minoxidil and Propecia and also... what would be realistic conservative optimistic expectations of adding spironolactone?

not a whole lot. it will help some. It works in a different way than finasteride/dutasteride. You could also try oleic acid at http://www.chemistrystore.com, $17 for a gallon. It is a bit weaker than spironolactone, but works in some of the same ways as well as other ways, it you don't have to prepare anything.

I think you should do oleic acid and add the contents of various anti-oxidant capsules, like grapeseed extract, apply poly, green tea extract, SOD, and a little tall oil and camameal oil. I'm going to do that soon. That is the easiest thing you can do. That and folligen. I doubt you will get a shed from either of those. Do that and maybe reduce your finasteride dose.

sort of confused by answer. Did you say spironolactone wont do a whole lot?

I dont think i would do a good job at creating my own preparations BTW

spironolactone by itself probably will not stop your balding. It will just slow it down. It is best in combo with other stuff.

why do people never advise putting spironolactone on the crown or top, and just on the hairline?

because lees cream is too thick and white and messy to appy to your hair. the hair line has easier scalp access. that is why I make my own.

do you think that i'd be able to make my own or is it difficult?

you just need something to dissolve it in. ethyl alcohol or PPG, and something to make it evaporate slower. I think oleic acid would be good.

I don't know what the solubilities are for each. I also don't know what is needed to make it penetrate and last long. I know that 25% each of water, alcohol, PPG, and oleic acid would be good, but I don't know which of those you could cut out. You can buy any of those online cheaply. Well, the alcohol costs more. if you filter out the filler, or let it settle, the liquid goes on clear and nice.
