Hey,

I never really noticed but yesterday one of my friends commented on how hairy my arms / hands have gotten. Said I was turning into wolfman. Does finasteride/min cause excessive body hair growth? Is this a good sign for my head or is it unrelated? Maybe its proof my finasteride is real, or could minoxidil be the main contributer?

The hairs on the arms/hands has nothing to do with the hairs on your head. There are several ways, if you want, to get rid off those unwanting hairs. I have seen many people who appearing like Wolfman looking at the hairs on their hands, legs and chest. Many of them even have hairs on the shoulders and their back. Surprisingly most of them I have seen are bald or almost bald.

Well my main point/question was that even though I've had that hair before starting treatment, a couple months in I've noticed its getting a lot darker/thicker and definately more hair in general. Does finasteride/min also increase body hair in general?

Yes minoxidil will do this. I get the same thing, and its also one of the stated side effects. I've also had comments on my hairy hands!

Yes, you must keep your testosterone levels under control. Try peppermint tea or any other mint tea as this decreases testosterone.

If your hairloss is androgenic in nature then it would additionally be associated with an increase in body hair. This is because the same increase in hormones that are associated with hair loss on the male head are also associated with hair growth on the body. Unless you're rubbing that minoxidil on your arms and hands then it's not the cause.

My body hair is actually thinner since starting finasteride and a lot of other guys on here have experienced the same. Also, I would agree that in most cases minoxidil should not cause an increase in body hair unless your're rubbing it on your body. If it was the simple to grow hair using minoxidil people woudn't do all kinds of crazy things to ensure absoption and penetration into the sclp.
