Best method for measuring hair loss?

Are there any common and more precise way of measuring progress/regress than just looking at old photos?

If you've got a link to a description, that's be fine.

Thinking about things like:
- Taking an image of the hair line with a ruler next to it.
- Combing every other week and getting an idea of the rate of hair loss
- A way to measure density/thickness?

Any common quick and more precise way than just looking at old photos would do.

I have found some good ways.
You can use Fotofinder once a year. See picture below.

Let me know if you think Fotofinder is a bad idea, and also: do you do anything to measure hair loss at regular intervals?

I will do this once or twice a year, to find out whether I need to hop on finasteride.

Yeah I believe these devices are called phototrichograms but for your average person comparing photographs is unfortunately probably the best way to do it. At least comparing photos is more accurate than counting shed hairs or just going by vibes

If you have a freckle or birth mark near your hairline you could measure the distance between the two
