In all fairness I haven't experienced any gyno, a bit of weight gain, that's about it. I don't think it's all about changing your serum E2 but more about what happens when you apply it to the scalp itself and if nothing else, the downregulation of androgen receptors on the scalp.
But yeah, he's clearly taking stuff to keep his mass up, which is fine, no judgement but the sh*t he's on it's no wonder he would see no appreciable difference in terms of serum levels. He also may be directly or indirectly taking things that help estrogen clearance, so that would also explain it.
Magnesium does that, in case you didn't know, it will expedite the removal of estrogen from your body.
