Davidoff, can you provide proof that topical Dutasteride is ineffective? As well as Flutamide?

And not just anecdotes, but real data?

Can anyone?

I'm really curious about this MDF... And what's the difference between Flutamide and fluridil? (Why would you have two different products with such similar names? .. I'm having trouble keeping up with all the new products. I just use finasteride and minoxidil.

I dont understand how they cant do it if it really worked? They turned minoxidil into a topical and it works great,Why dont these dht inhibiting topicals work? Im begining to think dht cannot be inhibited in the scalp,Only systemically. If that is true,That would mean revivogen isnt actually inhibiting any dht but is probably stimulating minor growth with its grape seed extract and nothing more.

I assume that by "inhibit DHT", you mean inhibit 5a-reductase. There's no doubt that it's possible to do that topically, even in humans, because topical gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) was shown to significantly reduce sebum production in an experiment with a male human test subject. Of course, how effective Revivogen is able to do that is a separate issue. But at least we know that it's certainly POSSIBLE to do that, if you use the right materials.

So Davidoff :)

How bout it then? Put your money where your mouth is? You seem to be THE FINAL word here as to what is "snake oil" (your favorite term) and what isn't.

So you do have any non-anecdotal data concerning the efficacy of topical dutasteride and flutamide or fluridil?

I'm sure what you post will be more than illuminating.

Thank you.

:)

So I'm to be clear in understanding that when you say that topical Dutasteride and Topical Flutamide are merely 'snake oil', and that they are ineffectual in treating hairloss, that you are merely speaking through heresay and anecdote and possess no real data concerning the efficacy of both.

Thank you. That's really all I wanted to know. Guess I'll be giving this a shot.

flutamide is not effective topically. How do we know dutasteride is? Sounds like another snake oil powered by minoxidil to give some benefit.

hehe You just made me laugh Thx man I needed that. How ignorant can you be?

I agree with Davidoff. Bryan posted studies that flutamide applied in varrying doses to one flank organ reduced the side of the opposite flank organ by an equal amount. I'd need some studies that specifically test for this in humans before I dared try flutagel.

Soy phyto whatevers and spirolonactone topically seem to be our best local bet, weaker but cheap and easy in a shampoo, as long as you make small batches that won't spoil. A small amount of lavender would be good too, though better as a very low dose topical, since it does go systemic. Nizoral's keto goes systemic to, but not as fast, so you do get a local effect.

Flut is doing a good job for me in conjuction with minoxidil. Only side effect I have noticed but may just be me over analysing is slightly watery sperm.

On friday i have been going for 8 weeks!! When i hit the 12 week mark i will post pictures. My crown is going great, had a shed at my temples but i have some tiny white hairs starting to grow in there place. I even have a line of them that if they thicken up will be growing in across my hairline!

I'm sorry but what the hell is a flank organ and what does it have to do with anything?

A flank organ is an area on the backs of hamsters which are roughly analogous to sebaceous glands. There are two of them, one on the right side and one on the left. They are very sensitive to androgens, which makes them ideal for testing topical antiandrogen drugs and 5a-reductase inhibitors. Because you can put a prospective new drug on one side only, leaving the other flank organ as a control, you can find out if the drug is being absorbed systemically (if the drug has only a "local" effect, only the flank organ that gets the topical application will be reduced in size).

Hamsters have been widely used in this way for testing new drugs. Topical spironolactone was tested that way in at least three or four hamster studies; topical RU58841 was tested that way in the original Battmann paper; and topical flutamide has been tested that way in a couple of studies.

Thank you, people tend to forget that not everyone here is a freaking scientist.

There needs to be a sticky for all the technical terms.

As far as i know Revivogen protects the AR from Testosterone being produced to DHT, not directly to "kill" dht.
