Belgian prime minister is a bald ugly young man in his 30's

He doesn't look young, he looks maybe 5 years younger.

He's goofy looking - that's why people take the micky.

Nobody said Conservatives lost because they had bald guys, infact Hague was a very astute and well liked politician. He was leader at the wrong time, Britain was in the midst of the 'Labour revolution' and was on a more socialist path, compared to his Conservative route.

Blair was considered 'old and past it' because he was in power for 8 years by that point and had made many a silly decision, so politically he was, yes.

He was young when he entered but he wasn't good looking. He was voted in because Britain wanted change, we had something like 18 years of Conservative government by that point.

Milliband is probably the best looking of the lot and never won. I have an honours degree in politics, it's my career path - I eat, sleep and breathe politics. Believe me - we don't pick leaders based on looks. Our political system doesn't work the way it does in America.

The United States is it's own beast - as with everything.

Edit: how is this good looking to you (Tony Blair in 1997): tony blair.jpg

We'll have to agree to disagree Coco.

I just don't see how anyone can think any of our politicians are good looking at all - seriously.

Our system isn't built on superficial superiority; it's knowing the right person, have the right education and money driven system we live in Britain.

No he didn't. He did not lose because of how he looked. You are dumbing down politics and being simplistic.

He lost because he was seen as an inept leader, his party politics bust. The last Labour government oversaw half a trillion pounds worth of borrowing, selling gold at record lows, mass expansion of the state, mass influxes of immigrants and a weak economy.

He was still being blamed for this, as was his party. It had nothing to do with looks.

In 2007 also, in the Scottish elections, Salmond beat McConell.

This is how they look:

If it were about 'looks' - who should have won? McConnell!

People keep denying that Nixon was bald.

He was like a NW5.

Mr. (H)Air(less) Force One himself.

He has a good looking wife. He did it. Succeeded against all the odds in achieving great things.

But it doesn't change his sex appeal/looks. Genetics. Basically pre determined.

Still, it's good to do well in other areas of life and work hard.

Depends on whether you see sex appeal as a means to an end or not. A lot of men would.

I feel image is very important. The face is our unique fingerprint and a window to our soul for the world. So much is based on first impressions. It is also good as you feel happy inside. That's not to say you can't be happy without sex appeal but there may be a void in their life I am guessing. Something that they suppress and block out.

Well we are one extreme, perhaps there is another? As I've said many times before, out of probably 1-2 billion men who are balding or bald, us 10-15 regulars on this forum are the only ones in the world who care enough to post here about it, the only other big hairloss forum is bald truth talk I think. That isn't a lot of people. We care a lot.

Once you accept that our fixation is extreme, you have to wonder if maybe there are genuinely people who truly do not care at all what they look like?

This is a good point. I don't understand how it's possible, but yes, either certain people pretend to not care at all, or truly don't. What a life that would be. Simple and easy, without this horrible, perpetually frustrating, unsolvable burden. I feel like once certain people get married, they really do stop caring so much. It really starts to suck when you're in your thirties, single, already lacking self esteem in other areas and hair loss hits you hard. Probably even harder in the twenties. I think because millions of people take finasteride and minoxidil and that the hairloss industry is a multi billion dollar one, people do care a lot. They just don't reveal it, because it makes them seem vain and weak.

Just because they are not on the forum doesn't mean they don't care. Having said that, there are extreme members on this forum. But observe people looking in a mirror at their appearance, most care of any age to an extent. It's just they choose to "deal" with it mentally/physically in one way or another. The majority of us have self awareness and intelligence. I think if one has something extreme happen to them, bald early or lose good looks, they will be effected.

If you never lost your hair nor had something horrific happen (and are average looking or less): perhaps you won't feel any different. You always were the same.

The response is individual and you can't read someone's mind.
