Thought I'd start a new thread with some new pics.

I started minoxidil in December 2004.

Here's my head in December 2004: http://img91.echo.cx/img91/1145/topbaseline6kb.jpg

Here's my head May 2005: http://img91.echo.cx/img91/6330/topnow2xu.jpg

The below two pics are from May 2005:
This one is my healthy fully terminal hair at the back of my head: http://img237.echo.cx/img237/2935/microback6gs.jpg

This one is from the top of my head: http://img237.echo.cx/img237/851/microfront2cc.jpg (not quite sure what that dark yellow spot is..... I promise that I am clean :)

I've noticed on the second picture that I've got hair in every single follicle and I'm quite excited now. I'm experienceing a bit of a shed since I started finasteride a month ago but it's looking quite promising. Hopefully they'll grow thicker and thicker.....

Great pics Baldie. Yea it indeed looks promising. Are u still in shedding phase though? I am wondering, is it always the case that u have initial shedding after taking propecia? Do u experience any other side effect other than shedding? I am also thinking about taking propecia but I am very much afraid of trying anything new because of horrible reaction I got from rogaine.

I'm still in the shedding phase (4th week on finasteride now, 6 months on minoxidil)) but it has calmed down a lot. 2 weeks ago I shed 5 hairs per "pull", now it's only 2-3 per pull, sometimes none at all. Although, the hair I pull out is light coloured or not coloured at all.

I'm not sure if my shed is due to propecia or the fact that i've been on minoxidil for 6 months and thus i'm shedding the hair it regrew for me. I've read that hair minoxidil regrows that is not fully terminal has a much shorter anagen (growing) phase and can shed after a few months only to grow out thicker and stronger.

I thought the propecia shed occured after 3-8 months,....might be wrong though.

Hey baldie how did you manage to get pictures so close to your hairs? I've tried before and it always comes out blurred.

A good camera and.....the following "trick"

If you don't use flash it will come out too dark.
If you use flash it will come out overexposed, thus you can't see anything.

So you need something in the middle. I cover half the flash with my thumb...works a treat :D

I'll have to give that a try. What camera do you have and any other special settings on your camera or distance from your hair that you use?

Too many functions on my canon, going to have to bust out the instructions i think.

I hope your progress has continued!

quick question. would you consider your hair loss frontal hair loss? I bought a box of rogaine....and it said it is for vertex only and not intended for frontal hair loss. I'm not sure what frontal hair loss is. i'm balding on the whole top of my head and wasn't quite sure if I should try rogaine because didn't want to risk lossing any more of my hair because it said there usually is a 2 week sheding phase. And what is considered the crown of your head? Thanks for the info.
