Ive figured ive got male pattern baldness and im gonna see a dermatologist ASAP and get on the best possible treatement. I went to Advanced hair studio, then Ashley Martin, on the same day and here is how the story goes.
I went in and got the 'Free Hair Check' They requested my full Name Contact Number. Then i went in and saw the person. Now to the average person walk past, it does not appear as if i am losing my hair, I have long hair and it's not really noticable yet. The person(who i believe was a salesman) had a very quick look at my hair, he just brushed it aside for a second and said that Advacned hair stuio's was more for men that are in the advanced stages of hair loss (he pointed to a photo of what i would describe as a person with a norwood 4, althought he did not mention anything about the norwood scale)
He said that they did have some product's, in their words "like rogaine but much better"
Mostly they used laser surgury and that started at $7000 and he did not think that i needed that. He then recomended that i go to a trichologist, for a mineral analysis which cost around $60 for the consultation and $150 for a mineral analysis. They gave me a pamphlet for the Australian trichology Centre add told me to tell the people that this person from advanced hair sent me.
Note: The pamphlet was a folded up photocopied pamphlet, which looked a bid suspicious especially from so called 'medical experts' i since have gone to see my gp(doctor) to get a refferal to see a dermatologist. I showed him the pamphlet and he laughed. He told me that a trichologist is not a qualified doctor, They are not medical specialists in the traditional sence. You do not need a refferal from your gp(doctor) to see one of these people. They come under the heading of 'alternative therapy's'
Also it appeared to the person at advanced hair that i wasn't even suffering from male pattern baldness...well as far as they were concerned. Now i know for certain that i have male pattern baldness, you can't really tell unless i have my hair pulled back(but i have my hair forward so it's not noticable) . I would consider myself in between a norwood 2 and 3, but this person was only a salesman and did't notice.
I got the free consultation and saw the salesman. They requested quite alot of details such as address, phone, age, dob(why both?) etc etc which i thought was rather unnecessary.
In thier room they have this thing that you put wine in it looks like a stool but skinny and with no top to sit on, insted it has a hole which a silver coloured bucket it's in, and in there you put a bottle of win with ice and it looks neat . The bucket had water in it and the person put there hand's in as if to clean them and then wiped thier hand's on a white cloth. The person then had a 20cm(8-9 inch) metal stick which they used to examine my hair. The person had a good look and then used to mirror to show me my temple where the hair line was receding and thinner hairs were growing. The person then pulled out the norwood chart and told me that i am in between a norwood 2 and 3.
The salesman told me that they can but me on what their words was an '8 month program' plus i would have to use other products for the rest of my life. At this point the salesman explained what male pattern baldness is and i explained that i already understand how it works at whic point they stopped. The person told me i would have to take some shampoo's and herbal tablets. This would cost $1200 upfront or $1500 in two payments. then it would cost around $500 a year after. They told me that Rogain did not work. He also recomeneded that i should not undergo surgury at this early stage.
Note: The person told me that they were absolutly sure that they could have my hair back and they the person them selfs was on the treatment, They were very pushy and used car salesman like. They became vague and hesitant when i asked them what did the treatment consist of and decliend to tell me the ingrediant's of the product's but they did tell me that minoxidil was in one of them, which i believe contradict's the point they made earlier which was that rogain did not work.
To sum up, These people are not doctors they are salesman, i do not know if their treatment's work or not because i have never used them. I think(not know) that it would be best to see a dermatologist(qualified doctor) which is what i am going to do and get this sorted ASAP!
