Are hair strands supposed to look like this?

I experience a lot of shedding and I've never gotten an answer from my doctor about why my hair strands have this white stuff?
I've seen pictures of hair bulbs with white gue, but this looks different and almost all my hair that is loose or falls out have this.

According to my doctor I have no infections or other health issues. My scalp looks healty and my vitals are very good.
I'm on no medication.
Anyone know what it is? It's very dry and not see thru.
