Are Enlarged Sebaceous Glands A Smoking Gun For Androgenic Alopecia?

Just got a biopsy done and it shows both Telogen Effluvium as well as "prominent sebaceous units". I'm going through diffuse thinning on the top of my scalp, more in the front of my scalp.

Are these "prominent sebaceous units" - enlarged sebaceous glands if I understand them correctly - basically a surefire sign that I'm suffering from genetic Androgenic Alopecia?

About to hop on finasteride, but I don't want to find out later on that it was just Telogen Effluvium and some other thing that causes enlarged sebaceous glands.

Thanks for your time guys.

Get on 2% keto. It reduces the size of the sabaceous gland

your biopsy would mention Androgenic if you have it.

Mine said "androgenic alopecia, early stage" on the report.

Mine said "androgenic alopecia, early stage" on the report.

It said "prominent sebaceous units suggest an associated component of Androgenetic Alopecia", with the main thing being Telogen Effluvium.

Correct me if I'm wrong but scalp issues such as seborrheic dermatitis have symptoms such as increased sebum output.

There are people that hypothesize androgens increase sebaceous gland size (nizoral is documented to decrease their size).

I would look at:

-pattern of hair loss
-family history
-miniaturization pattern

And go from there.
