This theory is probabaly wrong in all aspects.. but i was thinking..

the reason why your hair itches is because your follicles are dying! they're inflamed..

what if you took a mild antiinflamatory? would that help?

:hmmmm:

I use Emu oil on my hairline, stops the itching and I'm seeing some vellus hairs pop up. But I've only used it for a month, its too soon to tell.

Most antibiotic chemicals that are used in soaps are actually very skin irritating. Oral antibiotics often have a mild anti-inflamitory effect but you dont want to be taking them for long periods of time.

I belive the active ingredient in Nizoral helps combat this inflammation.

i was just recently on anti-biotics for 10 days for strep throat, and i must say i noticed my scalp was COMPLETELY itch free.

Though, could be coincidence. some days/weeks are just less itchy than others.

Yeah and a lot of people are pissed about that, including myself. I took mild antibiotics for a couple years for acne and when I stopped I was all fu(ked up immune system and GI wise for a few months.

So if you feel like getting sick a lot, and getting alternating bouts of the sh1ts and being stopped up, take antibiotics for a couple years.

i doubt the side effects can be any worse than propecia.

Well its your body. My current doctor told me taking antibiotics is about as hard on your body ( mostly liver and kidneys ) as taking anabolic steroids. Would you take steroids for 2 years strait?

I think your Doctor could be wrong..

just like propecia.. doxycycline is approved by the FDA for long term.

I doubt by taking this medication it'll cause the same effects as abusing steriods for 2 years.. ya think?

also... think of all the docs that tell male pattern baldness patients that propecia should be avoided?

I doubt it, I think more likely you are mistaken.

Propecia is an significantly underdoesed version of a drug that has been used for decades long term, antibiotics for the most part are prescribed only for short term use.

Ask you doctor if antibiotics are as safe as propecia, I would bet he says they are much harsher on the body.

Also I didnt say "abusing" steroids, clearly abusing any drug would be worse than taking physician prescribed doesages.

I've been on Doxycycline for 6 months and was on Minocycline for a year and a half before that.

That probably explains why I've never had any inflammation.

well i'll let you know if it helps me.

I'm not going to go the full dose of twice daily. I'm going to just going to take 100 mg a day..

I'll let you know if it helps with inflamation.. hell.. it might help with hair loss???

I mean it's a fact that our own immune system is one of the causes of hair loss.. who knows.

I couldn't tell ya. I've had a decently bad shed over the last two months, my scalp is a bit flakey. But, never any inflammation :p.
