Abstract​

Androgenetic alopecia (Androgenetic Alopecia), also known as male pattern baldness, is associated with androgen and androgen receptor (AR) signaling; however, the pathogenesis of Androgenetic Alopecia remains largely unknown. Here, we demonstrate that nuclear localization of androgen receptor is elevated in the dermal papilla (DP) of balding scalp from patients with Androgenetic Alopecia. Transcriptome analysis identifies microvascular abnormalities in the DP of balding scalp compared to non-balding scalp of Androgenetic Alopecia patients. We provide further evidence that blood vessels regress in the DP of balding scalp at the early stage of hair follicle miniaturization in Androgenetic Alopecia development. Consistently, we find that microvascular vessels accumulate around the dermal papilla upon anagen initiation, and angiogenesis is required for hair regeneration in mice. Mechanistically, we show that AR-mediated paracrine signaling, mainly TGF-β signaling, from DP cells induces apoptosis of microvascular endothelial cells in the DP of balding scalp of Androgenetic Alopecia. These findings define a role of AR-mediated regression of blood vessels in DP in Androgenetic Alopecia and support the notion that early anti-AR treatment is better than late treatment.

Note that

Vitamin B3, Niacin, acts as a proangiogenic substance by acting as a precursor of NAD+, as well as promoting endothelial cell function via its receptor GPR109A. Vitamin B6 inhibits angiogenesis by inhibiting micro vessel outgrowth and suppressing the proliferation of endothelial cells.

No surprise that B3 and B6 are good for hair? The latter is in the Zix formula.

NOt good.
Anyway, the "lack of nutrients" theory has been debunked so many times. The only thing i agree with this study is that male pattern baldness is in essence caused by the strangulation of the derma papilla cells and we have more strangulation on the sites that have more androgen receptors. Thats where finasteride & ru58841 help but it's not enough.
Microneeedling & minoxidil have a proangiogenic effect and thats why they work in conjunction with androgen blockers.
