Am I in time for finasteride to help me (brief intro)

Im 29 now and have been taking Finax 1mg once a day for 2 weeks. No sides so far AFAIK.

How did it start?

Age 27: Barber said that I was thinning on top. I put it down to a bad haircut previously. I was in denial and thought the barber was high or confused.

Age 28: Realize that my hair was thinning on the crown and that I could no longer grow it high, as the higher my hair, the more the thinning showed.

Age 29: It got to the stage where I was having buzz or low cuts regularly to disguise the thinning. Looked up His Hair ink tattoo but I don't want a picture on my head. I want hair. I got on finasteride. I regret not doing it earlier.

So here is a pic of my hair. Thinning on top (more space between the follicles on the crown that at the FRONT, BACK and SIDES of my head). Possibly about to norwood1 as well, if it hasn't begun already.

Can finasteride save this?

I am about to buy minoxidil and nizoral from UnitedPharmacies in the UK. Any tips?

inb4 "you're black, just buzz it down, like a sports star, bald looks good on black guys, bla bla". That is NOT what I'm here to hear, guys. Thanks for any advice.

Remember, it is buzzed down to hide the thinning, but it is noticeable.

By the looks of it you still have a really strong hairline. With your hair shaved so short its hard to tell how thin it really is...but it looks like its actually not too bad and i think you'll see awesome results with finasteride. Not too late at all in my opinion

Take heart, because finasteride usually works well with diffuse thinners such as yourself!

Worst case is that you have to shave your head. It appears that you are black, which means you get a free pass on a shaved head. White guy with shaved head = cancer patient. Black guy with shaved head = professional athlete. unk:

Depending on age, body type and facial hair, white guys with shaved heads can pull of a number of personalities, including: surly biker, creepy child molester, brooding artist and "hey everyone, it's Billy Corgan!"


No offence to white guys with shaved heads, just poking a bit of fun Some guys can pull off this look, but I sure as hell can't.

My minoxidil arrived to day.

My hairloss seems to be stabilized but AWFUL. My mum said that she can see balding on the vertex. I'm basically diffuse thinning all over except for the hairline which is relatively intact. I moved onto dutasteride last week. Min did NOTHING for me. I ordered nizoral this morning (I haven't used it before). I am desperate now. I can't leave my house now without blackening the balding areas. I NOW CAN'T LEAVE THE HOUSE without DISGUISING THIS ****.

I am not male pattern baldness'ing. I am losing hair in the ****ING MIDDLE OF MY HEAD. Like a ****ING MONK. I look like **** unless I "paint" my head. As soon as I realized how important good looks are (of which I have none anyway), I begin to BALD. **** ME. I don't think ink hair is the way to go but I guess it's better than bald. As soon as a girl feels your ink hair though, it's a wrap. You're just BALD to her. And to yourself. You know the truth. Hair = win. That's it.

All I do is stare in the mirror and HOPE.

dutasteride should be put in all boy's baby milk. dutasteride should be put in the water supplies. dutasteride should be fed to foetuses.

We deal with this meanwhile a female of your age and who is your female looks equivalent (same nose as you, same X as you, etc) is out there being wined and dined by rich investment bankers and male model looking guys just coz she has a vagina.

Secondly, I have some good news for you. As far as balding goes, you couldn't be in a better position. The type of hair loss you have (diffuse) responds extremely well to the treatments. If you start small and give it a solid 12 to 24 months to work, I believe Minoxidil (preferrably rogaine foam) and Nizoral (used once every 3 days - soak for duration of shower) will thicken you right back up again. Seriously. I'm not just saying that. I've been watching guys do what you're about to do for 13 years now. You honestly have reason to feel better right now. Im assuming you haven't been on any treatments yet. If you have, let me know. Otherwise, don't bum out. I remember looking in the rear view mirror of my car in 1999, seeing the sun shining down onto my scalp through my newly thinning hair and just sweating with stress. Its now 2012 and I have the same amount of hair I had on that day. The treatments available will be sufficient to keep what you've got, and most likely thicken you up a bit for many, many, many, many years. Go to the gym, work out, get your body looking badass. Start using this grace period to look for a girl and be proactive about setting up your future now. You'll find that when 10 years have gone by and you still have 100% of what you have today (give or take 10%) ... it won't be so bad. Because you'll have a wife, and stability, and maybe even kids. At that point you can go on steroids, get huge muscles, go bald, and have crazy sex with your wife 500 times a day while roaring like a bald lion.

Good times ahead. Smile.

PS: You say your face is ugly, but you've got one good looking shaped head. That's something most of us here can't claim. Consider yourself lucky for that. The alternatives head shapes are numerous and can be terrible.

I am now freaking out coz I get Avodart (Turkey) - dutasteride, from UK and now I'm reading of how it's a huge scam and it might be a sugar pill. I am willing to risk this, and have been since the orig post. The very least I should expect is to be taking legit pills. I'm freaking out coz I might be wasting time.
