Alopecia Areata is a patchy hair loss... It results in round bald spots, sometimes forming very rapidly. You have male pattern baldness :p

that wasnt why i wanted to know, i wanted to know because, i was reading an interview with this guy who is studying hair cloning, he said that it wouldnt benefit people with alopecia areata and was wondering why

i did some more reading though and found out that because it is an immune system problem, cloned cells cant help

Right.

The body will reject the new hairs as well, since AA is an immune related disorder. Hairs lost to male pattern baldness are preprogrammed on some level to be rejected by hormonal conditions. Other hairs aren't programmed as such, so cloning those hairs will enable (similar to traditional transplants) you to put them right where the others fell out, and they'll grow unobstructed.
