It's so upsetting to read **** like this with people joking about side effects.
I'm 24. I was 23 when I took finasteride at 1.25 mg for about 8 days earlier this year. The first day I took it, I got testicular tightness and prostate pains. By day two I got breast pains in conjunction with testicle pains. By day 8 I wasn't able to sleep, and I got terrible brain fog....couldn't think straight and had to be admitted to the ER twice in the span of 3 days. It ****ed me up so bad. I had PFS for about a month afterwards, with weird armpit pains and horrible brainfog which almost cost me my job. When I started taking the medication I didn't even think about side effects, I knew of them but it wasn't something I was fixated on or was "expecting" or paranoid about. One thing though, is that I've always been straight-edge and I'm very thin and in the past medications like NyQuil and other chemicals really hit me hard and have a pretty strong effect. I think that's just how I'm genetically put together.
That was back in March and I'm pretty much 100% recovered now. I've since started 5% minoxidil and taking 1,800 mg of Saw Palmetto daily, which I don't think has helped at all and I'm losing hair pretty fast.
The sad thing is, I want to keep what hair I have so bad I'm considering going back to a doctor and asking for generic 1mg finasteride and cutting that up into 4ths or halves or something. I'm just thinking of, 1.25mg did a number on me in such a short span of time, will .25 or .5 mg really be any different?
That's just one person's story. Side effects are real and should be taken seriously. Not a shill or a fear advocated, yadda yadda...I'm even considering trying again after I developed short term PFS!
