About To Give Up On Hair Systems, fed Up

3rd issue I've had from the hair system I had that it lifted.
1st time bad reaction from wrong glue itching like crazy/redness/soreness on scalp, 2nd time put on too tight and got a masssive migraine type headache.
3rd time lifted after 5 days. Not just an edge but like a flap amount.

Don't have any glue, and was a big lift,so pulled it off my head with the help of some olive oil.
Ending up ripping the stupid base when pulling it off.

Felt like giving up last night,so buzzed my head with clippers and wet razored it after again.

I got 2 more of the custom bespoke systems by the same supplier(optima hair) which have to be ordered in.
Poly skin with lace front, would have much prefered full lace base, but the company doesn't do them. :(
However since I shaved my head done to the bone(scalp), I would have to wait 10 weeks I guess.

I looked great with the hair system and made me very feel happy by the look/style.
But gave a whole lot of issues, going back to optima 3 times for mistakes/issues, has pissed me off.
The maintence wasn't too bad, but the f*** ups/issues were.

I look old as f*** and somewhat ugly being slick bald again.
But felt even worse with horseshoe hair at sides/back when I pulled it off.

Do you think it's worth me having one last try with another system. Since I have paid for the 3 systems now.
Or get a refund on the 2 systems I haven't worn yet and just be bald or possibly SMP?

I just don't know what to do anymore with this.

Ok so just my five cents. You need to figure out why these issues are happening. It really shouldn't lift that much. My worst attachments lift by 1cm but no more.I also tried to ride a bike few days ago down the hill, with wind flowing through my hair like crazy, just to test the bond. Only tape used - nothing lifted. Not to mention I have days where I sweat like a pig (cardio or working out), and then take a shower - and the tape still holds great... yes, the front lifts a bit, but that's about it, with covered hairstyle I dont even care.

Also, if you wanna give it one more try, maybe just try doing it all by yourself. Yes, it will take another 2-3 months, but if you survive that, you can get a new custom piece full lace through some of the recommended suppliers. And through this time grow your hair back.

I'm just starting out, and I'm finding the whole thing a ball bag too. I haven't even had my final cut and attached it yet either, I'm just talking about getting information regarding maintenance and attachment!

I think, whatever the issues, new wearers just need to soldier on and give it a chance. It will obviously get easier. Otherwise you'll likely spend x amount of wasted years, before attempting a piece properly again.

Big deep breath, Yurguardianangel.

Hair systems are not for everyone, BUT - if you looked great with the hair system and it made you very feel happy, but you look old as f*** and somewhat ugly being slick bald, then that's a big incentive to stick with the programme, is it not? Sounds like you are one of the people who can make them work.

What you are experiencing is teething problems, and you are reacting in a panicky way. There are simple accessible answers to all these problems. Calm down. To quote the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: DON'T PANIC. Take it easy. You are four fifths of the way there. You took the big leap, you paid your money. You like the result. Be patient and systematic and ask for the help you need (and have paid for) till you get it right. It's within your grasp. Come and talk to us when you have problems. Don't rip the piece off.

I was TOTALLY there after the first week. It was hot, I was getting glue in the hair, and the system was shedding like CRAZY every time I looked at it. I also had been running a fever since BEFORE getting the system first installed...

It's been now been five weeks. Using tape for the perimeter instead of Ghost Bond XL for all of it. I can re-do the hairline, or touch up, if needed in about 1/2 an hour.

Cleaning with tape is five mins... and I can re-attach the system, by feel, on a TOTALLY SHAVED HEAD (I am doing a Viking look).

Ordered my second system, two weeks ago, and I will be doing my own cut-in.

You just need to CHILL. But it is very possible you have the wrong system from the wrong company.

I would NOT go with SMP!!! It looks... like crap for MOST guys who do it.

If you can get a refund, DO IT. Your salon appears to be giving you 0 service and 0 options.

There are lots of options... and I would try another salon, even if you need to travel a bit.

I would go with French Lace, and would try full TAPE bond... with a scalp protector. If the hairline does not look good enough with the tapes, go with a glue that does not cause a problem (skin patch test). Scalp protector does REALLY help with this issue.

Hair piece wearing, to start with, for some, I guess, is sh*tty. My experience so far has been nothing but. Now it appears my piece isn't the correct size. How do people manage to get the template completely spot on? If I get another piece I'll get a salon or something to do my template. I guess the point of my rant is to let you know you're not the only one struggling with it. Sometimes it seems a lot of piece wearers are just in denial to me. I can't ever imagine it being as care free as some claim.

YGA, everything about your story suggests to me that in the medium term you should brace yourself and learn how to look after your own piece, rather than depending on a salon. It's really not that difficult. If I were you I would try applying the piece with strong hairgel - Got2BGlued or something similar. It's hard to get that wrong, and if you do get it wrong it just washes off in the shower. It's not waterproof, so you couldn't swim in it and it wouldn't be good for someone who does a lot of heavy cardio exercise, but it's fine for most purposes, and it takes the stress out of applying the piece yourself as a complete beginner.

Tape is not suitable for a thinskin base (could rip the base when you try to clean it off). And yes, the breathing holes in the skin are marketing bs.

From my limited experience, very few people manage to do this all by yourself. At the very least you need to partner with a company that can hold your hand through the process, and then have someone local to help you.

I, personally, spent the money to use a company that was flexible. I decided to fly to Madrid for the template creation, and a secondary consultation. I am glad I did. I got a system that is perfect, in terms of fit, density, and color.

If you have short hair, and not grey, it is probably easier to go 100% DIY. I could not.

It's OK to say, hey, I need the help of a professional. At least, get a good unit, and a correct template. You can always send that one on to another, less expensive place for additional systems.

I wore one when I was 19 before anyone here even heard of them. Waste of time, money and a great source of inflammation from the adhesives. If you must do it, do it for 3-6 months for the experience and be open about it. Then throw it away.

Yeah, I hated doing the template. And then the first one I sent to
got lost in transit, as for some amateurish reason have two entirely different addresses on their website. Clowns of the highest order :D I'll get someone to do the template for me and then have it kept on file by a company that knows what they're doing, i.e. not

I am not sure of how long ago that was, but that probably doesn't represent the feelings of many people here.

It was the same lace you have if not better and all hair pieces use synthetic hair even if they tell you it’s real. That’s why a salon beats self care by a mile. Because in the salon it gets cleaned, it gets dyed, it gets placed, on top of that they cut your own hair and normally they offer a treatment with oils and sauna for the pores to clear etc. I understand you like yours and this phase you are on but I have to warn him about the sides, physical and psychological. For example, your neck can be fucked because of the sleep position you slowly take after you start wearing the piece because the back edge of it goes against the pillow and puts pressure on the whole thing. So before you know it, you have a straight/linear neck and that causes its issues. If and how much natural or accepted that ponytail you’re rocking really can be, is the least of my concerns. To each his own. If you want my opinion, it looks absolutely ridiculous. Your beard on the other hand is godly.

Some member here wear for decades and are still satisfied with their hair replacements. How do you know that it's the same lace? or better, what is better for you? compared to what?
You said that all hair pieces are synthetic, I hope you've some proofs to back up your claim?

Not going to answer, your claims and comments are absurd and rude.

Ths is a place where we try to support one another and give constructive comments and criticisms.

Yagami is dealing with some legitimate problems and is currently limited in his options. We, care, and we are trying to help.

So if you have nothing constructive to add to the conversation... sashay away!

... lol. Why would you go through all of that "hassle" for 3-6 months, get everyone used to you with hair... then take it off???

It seems like you have issues with proper attachment and removal.

I don't know what glues or tapes you are using, but here are my recommendations:
  • 3-Mil tape. It's the only tape that can be used at the hairline because it's so amazingly thin.
  • Super tape for the back and sides. Really strong hold.
  • Davlyn Green/Davlyn black. These are clear glues. The black is for poly/thin skin systems and the green is for lace systems.
You should wash your hair with a liquid detergent plus a mechanical exfoliator, like exfoliating gloves or something. Shave. Wash again with the detergent to remove the hairs. Clean the scalp with 90+ alcohol. Do not use lower percentages, because they leave an oily film on your head and can interfere with the adhesion. Plop the sucker on your head, use a pen or old eyeliner pencil, and trace the front hairline using dots. Apply the tape at the hairline right behind the dots, apply the smallest bit of clear glue in the very front, where you want it to be secured, let it dry slightly, then put the hairpiece on. Use a small-toothed comb to brush hairs out of the way and the handle to apply pressure. Use a bandana or perhaps a silk scarf to apply slight pressure at the hairline for an hour or two. Or overnight.

Remove. Bang. Wig that is secured and ready for activity for atleast 7 days. I remove my system every 7 days, no longer than 10. At that time, my scalp is itchy and I just want to remove the system and properly wash it.

Currently not wearing since may.

Have chronic sinusitis and tension headaches now.

I don't know if I will be able to wear again, until that crap is gone.

The salon has my other 2 custom bespoke hair systems I paid for.

Trying again in october 2018.
If still causes me head pressure/headaches then will sadly wait till the new year after I seen the ENT specialists(could be months until I see them) I just don't know anymore.

Sorry to hear about those issues. I hope the next attempt improves.
