Using single treatments isn't going to stop aggressive hairloss. RU isn't going to stop DHT by it's self. finasteride, CB, min, micro-needling...

I understand. I just wanted to assess the efficacy of finasteride on me personally to see how I responded before adding other things. It seems to have done absolutely nothing. If it would have slowed some then I would have added something to topically inhibit androgens, but since I haven’t responded at all I don’t see the point of even continuing it. But like I said before I’m going to see a specialist in March so I think dropping finasteride right now would not be the best decision. Wish I would have gotten blood tests before starting finasteride to see how my DHT levels reacted.

I was on finasteride for about 11 months and was still losing hair and had to switch to dutasteride.

With Dutasteride and spironolactone you must have the androgens of a 9 year old boy.

Thank you for this. Glad to hear you’re gaining some ground back. I’ve researched fluridil a little and will probably be my next move. Do you think oral minoxidil made a significant difference?
Oral minoxidil is definitely what has made the biggest difference for me so far.

Fluridil has a weak binding affinity compared to RU and CB; however, in my individual case, it has worked better for me than finasteride at targeting androgens because my loss is only at the hairline and it also binds to T (which finasteride actually increases). Fluridil has helped me with my scalp itch. No sides whatsoever. It's probably a solid choice for maintenance. But some people with aggressive loss may not benefit from it at all.

When I was on finasteride and topical minoxidil, I was shedding 100+ hairs a day. It should be noted that I got hyperandrogenicity from finasteride - my body hair actually increased and sebum and ear wax were out of control. This is quite rare though. After switching to oral minoxidil and fluridil though, I've been shedding literally 10 hairs or less a day. I've been on this for about 4 months now. The shedding was dramatically improved with just a few weeks after the switch. My loss has definitely stopped, but it should be noted my regrowth as of yet is minimal. I have gained a couple millimeters lower on my hairline. My temples are the most stubborn, but have still improved slightly. I'm going to try RU and possibly estriol for future topicals. My hope is to regrow my temples with those stronger drugs for a while, then try to maintain on a low dose of oral minoxidil and back to fluridil.

"not responding" to me means that not all the people have estrogens spike after dht inhibition. someone somehow can manage to keep estrogen/T ratio under control.
estrogen spike, imho, is responsible for regrowth.

I've thought a lot about this as well. Perhaps the level of aromatization is very important when taking a 5ARI?

My regimen isn't really that radical compared to others on here tbh.
Maybe not compared to a male-to-female transition. You feel good? As in not depressed. Are you gaining weight easy? Got boobs?

I should've got blood tests before beginning finasteride but my doctor wouldn't do it. Didn't deem it necessary. I'll try to get a blood test in March and consistent ones if my protocol changes. I think that estrogen definitely plays a role for those who get good regrowth.

Brother you have nearly perfect hair with small maturation and you use finasteride. I think finasteride improved it a bit let alone worsening it.

That is what happen when you don't even have male pattern baldness.
What is wrong with people ? they are not kids but want kids hairlines.

Do not tell me you’re trying to say I don’t have male pattern baldness. My grandfathers and father are all Norwood 6-7, and I have very aggressive hair loss for my age.

Maybe try Alfatradiol and minoxidil, stemoxydine to your regimen. I like the theory behind Fluridil, and it sounds promising for maintenance, but with growth agents you can expect regrowth.

Thank you. I’ve researched both alfatradiol and stemoxydine and it might be time to give em a shot!
