I recently had an FUE transplant in Belgium. The whole experience was so great I've decided to share it, in hope that it might inspire other people who were in my position.I am 28 and have pretty severe hairloss, maybe a Norwood 5 or 6. I covered it up quite successfully for many years with Toppik.

After years of research on many forums, word of mouth and after seeing about six clinics in the UK, USA and Europe, as well as having micropigmentation in London, I decided to go to Belgium because the surgeon was highly recommended.

I had around 3200 grafts in the frontal area, it was pretty uncomfortable for about a week after, but after that all my friends just thought I had shaved my head and that I had a good hairline!

I will need another 2000+ grafts on the top and crown at some point and am planning to do this ASAP and will definitely be going back to the same clinic.

A month in and some shedding has occurred but not lots, I am very happy with the result so far.

I'm on finasteride and oral minoxidil.

I will try to post photos of my progress as time goes on, if you have any specific questions please do ask.

Hey

Nice progress so far! Next 5 months will be even more better!

How much did it cost to you? Also maybe you know, is dr. ******** booked badly? I mean, if I for example want to get the hair transplant next year, will I be able to get it? Or the Doctor already booked for years ahead?

Thank you Simon!

It cost about €10k euros which is around what you would pay in the UK for the same amount of grafts. (I couldn’t actually find a surgeon in the UK who would give me that amount of grafts!

The most they would give me in the UK was around 1700.

My brother actually just got a transplant with him a month or two ago, I can’t say how busy they are now but I reckon the waiting list is only a couple of months, not a year (which I think is great!)

Thanks for your reply!

I would say that price is really good! Especially, considering that your doctor is one of the best.

Please, keep us updated :)

Howdy JT

How are you doing? I’m 99% sure your new hair grows thick and strong. How about a couple of small updates from your side? Maybe 2-3 fresh photos?

Here is a month 8 update. I think the hair still has some thickening to do but its still going well.

If you can see a little blood I just hit my head on a shelf, fingers crossed it won't effect the grafts!

This is at 9.5 months right after I cut it back. This is mostly lit by natural light.

I kind of regret shaving it as I think I can do more with it when its a little longer.

I would love some feedback, do you think the middle part of my head is going to thicken up more, or do you think that is what the second transplant will do?

Sorry for the order issue, the uploader was being really annoying.

Looks excellent, really even @ 3-4 weeks no one would have ever been the wiser really.

I think its sometimes good to keep your hair somewhat short and manageable but it looks good in the middle as it is, when you grow it out its harder to keep control of and could easily break also.

Actually you are on minoxidil tablets, first I have heard of this will need to look into those also.
