3 Weeks Away From First System And Scared To Death!

I am 3 weeks away from getting my first system. I believe it's a thin skin and injected hair method. The salon I'm using has been doing this for over 40 years and has really great reviews. I've been bald and thinned haired for 2 decades now and finally in the last 10 years got to where I like how I look bald. I just miss having hair to play with and style. But as I'm reading in a lot of these threads I'm paranoid with the what if's. What if I spend all this money and hate it. He said i'd only have tome come in once a month for cleaning and re-bonding but it's sounding like that may be more frequent from what I'm reading on here. I have talked myself in and out of this at least 20'xs a day since I placed my deposit with the salon on Thursday of last week. The salon owner is leading me to believe the system should last 2-3 months with monthly bonding in between. Any suggestions or advice for a soon to be newby?

Hi Josh

I don't have any tips to give beyond what I said to Cardiffguy in the nextdoor thread, which you have obviously found. But look at it this way - if you hate the system you take it off, put it in the trash (or sell it on eBay) and you're back where you started, less a few hundred dollars. If you hate your transplant or your hair tattoo it's a much grimmer scenario. If you got to the point of putting your money down, this is obviously something you want to try, so relax and see how it goes. There are millions of guys out there wearing systems and satisfied with them as an answer to hairloss.

Monthly bonding seems to work for most guys who opt for this kind of deal, but you won't know for sure until you try it. The maximum downside is you will have to do some repair work on your hairline during the month, which is not that difficult.

2-3 months is a very conservative estimate of how long the system should last. If it's a decent system and you are careful with it, don't over-wash it and protect the hair from sun damage, you should get 4 or 5 or even 6 months from it.

Very best of luck for 3 weeks hence. Come back and tell us how it went.

Noah is 100% correct.

I got 7 months out of my first two lace systems, and I live in the Middle East!

To be honest, it took me a while to both get used to it and settle on a style. Now, I don't think I would go back to being bald again.
