26 years old, not sure if I’m losing it yet.

Hey forum, I posted here a long time ago because I was concerned of balding back then when I was 19. Fast forward to now, I’m now 26 and I’m still not sure if I’m losing my hair or not, but I don’t worry about it as much. Here are some pics of today. It’s just my right side that looks off to me but I could just be paranoid again. Any thoughts?

Yes, your hairline is recedeing. It probabbly already was when you were 19, but it's Very slow. Do you have pictures of your 19 old hairline
Yeah I posted it on the general hairline discussion: thread is called “how’s my hair looking?” Really how bad is it? I can’t really tell if it is or not, my left side still looks Norwood 1 but my right has always been weird looking. Could it just be maturing? Btw here’s my good left side of my head.

Here’s a better one of my right side I’m concerned about but with bathroom lighting. Please tell me I’m going crazy!

Personally I think it looks fine. I took a look at your other threads though, and it’s weird because in many of your previous pictures it looks worse than it does here. You seemed intent on getting medicated for it, have you been using minoxidil or finasteride in the interim?

Yeah it looked a lot worse years ago because I recently came off a strong drug called accutane at that time, it thinned the hell out of my hair for a few years and I was convinced it made me start balding. It did thicken up a little many years later but I’m afraid it left some damage. I’m not on any medications and never was.

That would definitely explain it. You probably had some degree of telogen effluvium if it came back without drugs. As of right now, I don’t see much going on in terms of active miniaturization except for a few hairs at the front. Your hairline is clearly defined and seems to have a more or less consistent density all the way across, which to me signifies stability. If you were to lose more though, I would definitely be concerned because it looks like it has already finished maturing. Any further back is headed to Norwood 3 territory,

Your hair looks pretty solid to me, man. I am 41 and would kill to have your density back! haha. Remember the expression, one man's ceiling is another man's floor.

Looks a very slow mature hairline or a NW2. You probabbly will stop at this stage.

I won't that It "doesn't look that bad" because I know even a slight change can bug us.

What should I look for if it’s male pattern baldness? I’ve been shedding a lot recently with hairs with thick bulb at the end I wonder if I have a scalp infection, scalp feels warm. Here is a last few I’ve took are these good quality? I’m trying to see if I have recession. I also wonder why it’s my right side that looks like it’s changed since I was 19 it looks like it’s the only side that looks like it has receded.

The biggest giveaway for new miniaturization is when you begin seeing hairs along the hairline that seem to have trouble growing to full length. One or two isolated hairs is normal, but if you notice several at once in one area that’s a bad sign.

With photos, just make sure the lighting is consistent and that you’re holding your hair the same way. The latter two look like they were taken with harsher lighting or a flash.

Ok these are the last few pictures I’ll take for now. I parted my hair for this and tried to get good lighting. is this a Norwood 2 then? Is that miniaturization?

You are 26 years old and still have dense hair on the top and sides. There are guys who are almost completely bald at 21...you are good! Clearly, there is miniaturization happening currently. But genetics are unique. There is no way to tell how it will proceed or end up in 5 years...in 10 years, etc. You may keep this current hairline for another 15 years and then start diffuse thinning...you never know. If you want to maintain what you have (and possibly regrow) you should add Finasteride/Dutasteride to stop the DHT conversion and use Minoxidil to promote regrowth. I think you might be stressing over it which can affect your mental health and may cause further hair loss! All the best!

What exactly is a mature hairline? What Norwood does it look like?
A way to judge it is like this. Look at your top forehead line wrinkle. That is where your child hairline used to be. That is a Norwood 0.

This image is a Norwood 0

Hey thanks for your reply! is miniturization pretty normal at this age to happen? I might hop on dutasteride but I’m just scared of the side effects I hear about! Also it’s only one side that looks like it has changed since I noticed it back when I was 19. My left side temple region has remained unchanged and it’s my good side I would say, Is it normal to only have change on one side of temple? I attached a pic of my good side of my forehead which I believe hasn’t changed.
