.25 = 1mg of finasteride or no?

Yikes, this thread blew up. Seems some are skeptical of other people's experiences. That is why I mentioned we are all different. What happens to you isn't universal to everyone always. Sucks if you are experiencing sides at .25mg, that means you probably are hyper sensitive to it. Quite simply, different people have different sensitivity levels to meds. Effects how sides hit them, and how much they can take to make the drug work. With all medications, you take what is effective and acceptable to your system, this simply can be different between people. Again though, if .25mg is causing you issue, bummer. I could see someone being spiteful about it, everyone else can use it but even small doses cause issues to that person. Sorry to hear that.

In my case, when I took it 10 years ago, I had no understanding that there were sexual side effects, didn't read up, just young and dumb. Slowly however, my drive went away, and all the other usual problems set in. Didn't even know it was finasteride until I decided to stop, mainly because I suspected it was hurting my general health somehow. Bam, within a week everything returned, and I realized that it had been messing with my sex life. The decline had happened so gradually I hadn't attributed it to finasteride. But sure as sh*t, when I got off 1mg, my drive and abilities came flying back. I was surprised and moved on.

Jump to now, older and wiser. I realize lower doses probably will work for me, .25 has caused no sides. Now, I don't know if .5mg will be the same, but suspect it will be ok. 1mg is out however. No BS here, just straight personal story.

Stores like this make me wonder (BTW I'm not doubting your story one bit) as most people will tell you after 10 years on finasteride one week off isn't going to move your DHT level much at all if any.


There has to be something else with this drug as we have people saying they took ONE pill and are messed up which should not be possible.

Now on your .25/mg people like Bryan will tell you your DHT is inhibited almost the same on .25 as 1mg and he is correct so in theory .25 should give you the same sides as 1mg but for many people it doesn't.

If anybody claims to be able to tell the difference in side effects between a 0.25 mg dose and a 1 mg dose of finasteride, I invite that person to do a careful, blinded test on himself. I'll believe him only if he gets predictable results with such a test.

For such a sceptic you sure do have a lot of faith in people. Anyone on the internet could tell you they did a careful blinded test on themself....

He'll have to describe his procedure carefully and have a certain "ring of truth" to it, of course, before I'll believe that he's telling me the truth.
