Hello,

I remember reading forums like these, and want to share a bit to the younger folks.

Long story short: started losing at 20, inherited my father who was a norwood 5 by 27. i’m 42 now.

Got on finasteride early, added minoxidil. Stabilized, a little regrowth. Norw 2-3. Curly hair made up for it.

After like 5-7 years it progressed some-switched to dutas. Worked, after many years of stable results I did minoxidil just once a day, eventually quit. Used ketokonazol shampoo for scalp innflammation/ dandruff and as a weak anti-androgen.

Years passed. Had a life, career, many fling, eventually married, looked to have kids. Didn’t work. After a year, I got my sperm count checked: 100 k total.m - Near nothing. Quit the meds…and luckily, 9 months later my sperm counts where in the millions. Kept off the drugs until I had two kids, loss increased a bit. Stabilized again…but somewhat thinner then it had been.

Kept on with dutas; checked sperm before third kid: it was down the drain yet again. Off meds for a year, conceived, on it again. A little thinner after the break, so added oral minoxidil this time. Grows hair like a beast, including body/fascial hair wih minoxidil.

All in all, I’ve been lucky. Lucky it worked, lucky to still be norwood 3 after all this time, and lucky that side effects were reversable. (Sperm)

Hair still matters to me despite my age…but a bit less. Still get the looks from gals though, so would like to keep it. I do not know if it might a side effect…but I hardly get any grey hairs, even though most guys I know are greyhounds now.

If it works for you: stay on, unless you have sides.

Sounds like a true story & makes sense..
Finasteride & Duasteride lowers DHT ..but sperm count as well.. Minoxidil dilates blood vessels but can cause rapid heart beats… Not the most appealing side effects.. And for many these drugs response is far from adequate..
But it does show us what the fundamental problem is..

Min dont work because of vasodilation. Other vasodilation meds dont even work for hairloss. Min has other effects that make hair grow. It has even been shown in new studies to reduce DHT and block AR expression. BUT the real culprit isnt DHT. Its those damn demodex mites. I found out that I wasnt dht sensitive because dutasteride and finasteride never worked for me. Nor did oral min.
