Iv always had relatively thin hair, and can’t remember noticing a baldish spot until a year or so ago. I’m wondering what could’ve caused it and what my treatment could be. Any ideas and recommendations are helpful!

I’m not too sure. I’ll have to ask around and see what’s up
Does your dad have hair loss? If so, do you know when his hair loss started? Did your two grandfathers lose their hair young as far as you know? These are important indicators as to what your own hair loss outcome is likely to be, because male-pattern baldness is almost entirely genetic. That being said, male-pattern baldness can sometimes skip generations, and so family history is not an entirely reliable indicator although it should give you a rough idea.

You definitely have some thinning in your crown area, although it is not bad. However, given your young age it is likely it could progress rapidly if left untreated. Approved treatments include finasteride which is taken orally at 1mg per day, and minoxidil which is applied topically to the scalp twice each day. Finasteride is the best weapon we have available. It can be expected to halt any further loss and also has a good chance of giving some regrowth.

Hairline isn't great but looks a little better than mine, im 20 too but i have no crown thinning. You need to get on finasteride bro that should thicken up or maintain your hair :)
Minoxidil is good too but beware the shed, i personally use it orally and i am getting regrowth !

You're brave lol. What dose are you taking? Any side-effects?
Not brave, just desperate lol. finasteride didnt work for me, dare i say it made things worse! I was pretty much almost a norwood 3 when i started oral minoxidil and now i have a sh*t ton of new hairs growing along my hairline and temples!! Its only been a little over 2 months too.. most of the hairs are thin and lightly pigmented so i hope they darken and grow longer i would easily be norwood 2 again :D
No side effects to report except ALL the hair on my body is growing like crazy, my arms, legs and facial hair is coming in thick, im even growing some chest hair lol but thats all fine and dandy because of what its doing to the hair on my head!
Forgot to mention, i take 10mg split into two 5mg doses. I take 5mg in the morning and 5mg at night. I had a shed when i started which did make my hair worse, its not recovered fully yet but im confident it will as i have hair on previously slick bald parts now :)

I'm pleased you're finally having success by using oral minoxidil. Have you observed any increase in facial puffiness, such as puffy eyes? Its apparently meant to be common among users of oral minoxidil, which is why some users also take a loop diuretic to reduce the puffiness. I'm using dutasteride at the moment and it is working for me, but if it one day starts losing its effectiveness then I'd probably consider adding a low dose of oral minoxidil such as 2.5mg a day.

Thanks man! I would have loved to get results from antiandrogens but im one of those unlucky few it makes worse. No puffy eyes or anything.. sometimes in the morning i do think i get dark circles under my eyes but they dont last long, it may not rven be minoxidil related! My eyelashes have thickened to the point where it looks like i apply mascara a bit, but it looks good on me so i will openly embrace it lol. Ive used spironolactone ( a diuretic and antiandrogen ) at 150mg in the past, not for minoxidil though. Made my skin really dry and clear, less oily.. but i needed to piss all the time and my hair was shedding real bad! Worst shed ive had yet.
