I'm 17 and I've always had thin hair and a high hairline however recently it seems it's getting even thinning, not necessity receding mind you, but it's definitely thinning in the middle of my hairline. Can minoxidil save me? Or at least slow it down unti I can hop on to finasteride at 18? Thanks in advance.
Included picture of me at 8 or 9 years old for reference of how bad my hair always was.

I always recommend a transplant better than any pharmaceuticals cause u wont really use them forever and when u stop cause of the side effects all the hair would be gone.

I think that is a very dangerous recommendation. Transplants are only viable under finasteride and minoxidil so you can mantain native hair. Otherwise, hairloss will further progress and you´ll have a bald head with islands of transplanted hairs. So... no pharmaceuticals (finasteride) = no transplant

You can actually have one without the other. There are many ppl out there that can not take pharmaceuticals and they only have a transplant. My brother is one of them so I dont think you are right.
Again, you can have one without another and any specialist can confirm this. Of course if you do both you will have faster results but, again, if u discontinue the pharmaceuticals your progress will be lost so I dont really think is nothing more than a delay cause honestly, you can not be forever on pills. Thats why I recommend a transplant and thats it... unless you do think u can be on pills forever.

I never said you "Can't", I said it is not visible in the long term, so the proper word is you "shouldn't", and I already wrote the argument to explain why. Most of the professional surgeons also require their patients to be on meds. Of course some other don't because they'll just want the money, but the good ones will actually care about their patients results in the LONG TERM. Alice, I don't know if you are familiar with the mechanics of male pattern bakdness, but one of it's basic characteristics is that it is progressive. A transplant can fill in bald areas, but by no means it stops the hairloss in non-transplanted areas that are destined to bald. Again' if you get a transplant without meds, then the patient will bald everywhere else and the result will be a weird looking bald head with islands of transplanted hair. You can ask any honest professional here at the forums if you think I'm wrong.

Transplant without meds is a terrible idea. Your brother will end up bald again despite his transplant.
