1 1/2 months on finasteride, miniaturized hairs on frontal and vertex regions...

1 1/2 months in on finasteride with no noticeable sides except watery semen. My hair does look thinner, but I haven't noticed any major shedding. When I get out of the shower, the top of my head reveals a lot of scalp. I've attached a picture of a 5k I did and my hair got wet. It looks just like this, except my hair is longer. I pulled different areas of my hair, the frontal (top) of my hair being the worst--very small hairs around half an inch came out in 3's. My hair is about 4 inches now.

My question is, Can I expect finasteride to reverse the miniaturization and thicken up my hair again? Are the miniaturized hairs I am pulling out hairs that will never regrow? I am trying to stay positive, but man, it's hard. Thanks in advance for your replies.

this you are going to have to sit back and wait 6 months or a year or two

Im 19^^ Its hard to be patient for me.
But youre right.. We should wait.
Maybe its a challenge for the life.. And we will learn something about it.
Its absolutely hard to tell if dutasteride is allready working for me or not. Maybe i lose a little bit less hair after a Shedd, but im not sure.
And im also not sure if my dutasteride is fake..

I hope so. Also, I thought it was ironically hilarious that the two other guys in that picture are bald.

I'm willing to wait it out. I'm helpless without it. I wish everybody the best in their fight

I been on finasteride a similar time as you. Noticing new hairs below the hairline. No shedding either. I don't really have miniaturised hairs like you so can't say what is happening. This stuff takes time for some, for others not so. Could take up to a year or more to see benefits.

Are you noticing any sides at all? Again, for me, I am noticing watery semen.

I really thing my weight loss triggered Telogen Effluvium, and that is what made me realize my male pattern baldness. I lost 45 pounds in 4 months. In that time, my hair suffered. It looked horrible. I suppressed it from getting the protein that it needed. Honestly, I believe this is why i have such thin hair on top. My hair looks way better than it did when 5 months ago. I can only credit that to a normal diet at this point. I know I have male pattern baldness because of my receding hairline, but I think Telogen Effluvium expedited the balding process throughout my vertex and frontal regions.

It's hardly noticeable with dry styled hair, so I think my hair is salvageable for sure.

No sides except ball ache and in the pubic region too. Seems to be settling. Not watery semen, it's thick.

Heard the semen stuff will return to normal in time if it's watery - not that it's an issue.

It's not an issue. After your post about new hairs along the hairline, I checked mine and saw some too. Whether or not it's new hairs, or old hairs, I'm not sure.

I'm on 1.25 mg eod. You?

I'm on 0.6 eod - no real difference between us with dht inhibition.

Mine are definitely new as its way below hairline - the area was bald before. It could be new or old,try looking at pictures u took recently.
what Norwood are you? I'm on my phone so apologise for any errors with typing

I'm about Norwood 2.5

Look at the dry hair picture I took. No temple point recession, slight recession in temples with some frontal diffuse thinning (stemmed from weight loss). I would said Norwood 2. If there's no difference in our doses, I might cut mine in half then.

Oh yeah, back on my laptop now so can view things better. Looking good in the dry picture. The wet one shows what could happen later on if no treatment. When my hair is wet I still never get that thin look except at the front. I guess in my case it's the front that wants to disappear first.

Lol at not hiding the pictures of the baldies and on a hairloss forum!

I hate that I'm attached to my hair at the emotional level. I'm starting nizoral tomorrow, and just going to hope for the best. Stay in touch, I'm curious to see how we both respond to treatment!

everyone is attached to his hair emotionally, it's a part of you and your identity, it defines you. unless you are suicidal you should be emotionaly atached to yourself... nobody realise it before loosing them cauz they are taken for granted before..
damn that ain't "The impact of hairloss" depressing section?? sorry

I don't know that I would go that far as to say everybody is attached to their hair emotionally. I work with guys who are receding faster than I can blink, and they are embracing baldness without any hesitation. One even expressed that he "can't wait to go bald".

frenchy, I notice the ticker for your 'last fap'... Do you buy into that really affecting your hairloss?
